Well I had time today to get everything installed. The pulleys were a cinch. Cleaned it up and took some pics. Never posted one with my Seibon grille yet, so here it is too along with the new LED tail lights.

Got the car tuned and dynoed today. AEM infinity’s are incredible. 400whp 363 was the torque. I didn’t even want to make that much power! Worried about the transmission now. But wow those are some good numbers.

Impressive numbers! You should be very pleased with where you've gotten this build.

Thanks man, I'm definitely surprised. But it has accelerated my need for a transmission upgrade Starting to look into that now. Already had some slippage so I'm staying out of boost for now.

That's a nice number. Almost seems a shame to run it through an automatic transmission...

Thanks man, I actually want this car to stay auto. I plan for it to be my comfortable daily, auto trans and all. Traffic ease, A/C, nice sound system. But that's just me, even my daily has to be fun and powerful.

Sort of, I do know what I have to do. But it's going to be a long slow process. I had to buy a little beat around car for while I do the work to the GS. 97 200sx 1.8 5-speed manual. Little gas champ. The GS will be down for up to a year while I build it. I have ASE renewals and things that have to be done by the end of 2019. My girls BMW needs some attention, and I do a car at a time for my church that they give to a bother or sister in need. Just my way of helping out. Busy time.

Plans for the GS is the 800whp capable transmission from PowerDynamix, whatever stall I go with, a one piece driveshaft. An OS-Geiken 1.5 LSD for the rear. The head let something go in the valve train, haven't inspected yet. But the head will be rebuild and strengthened with upgraded springs etc. Possibly a p&p, still need to make plans. The block will be replaced with a GTE. Will work out the needed hg thickness etc. down the line. By the time this is done, the car will be capable of big numbers. But like I said. Long time off for now.

Ordered the first item. MAPerformance has the best deal on the internet for an OSGiken LSD for black Friday. So that's on the way

Finally dug into the problem with the engine. Lost compression on cyl 1. The leakdown test shows the rings are shot w/ 90% leakage into the crankcase. A cap-full of transmission fluid brought compression up to 100psi. Looks like I'll be rebuilding the block with forged pistons/rods. That or find a GTE block. Head needs rebuilt too. Time to upgrade the valve springs to handle the new rpms I'm reaching.

probably the same thing that happened on my 3uz when it was supercharged. four of the 8 pistons broke because the rings expanded and butted up and dragged the cylinder wall and broke the ring lands. going gte block would be great. supposedly the ge head flows better and has better port spacing. gte block has oil squirters and oil cooler.

I've heard the GE head flow claim too. Not sure if I believe it, but the good thing is, clearly the GE head stands up to big numbers. In my case, my entire turbo kit/fuel system, etc. is based on the GE intake and exhaust bolt patterns. So keeping the GE head will make life much simpler when going back together. I don't think anything should be different with a GTE block. Just way lower compression and then time to up the boost/tune again. My only reason for considering just building my GE block is because I obviously have everything exactly where it needs to be. and won't chance any kind of fitment issues. I've heard the oil squirters really aren't necessary. Makes sense considering no other engine I've built has them, and they worked fine. Plus I've seen that the 2jz has such a well designed oil system anyway. Check out the YouTube video that compares the 2JZ and RB26 engines. The 2J is superior in every possible way with mega huge oil galleys etc. I understand we already have the same crankshaft in any GE/GTE engine correct? Just need a good set of rods and pistons/rings and maybe have the engine done .10 or .20 over, whatever's needed. If I do an equal dish and HG as a GTE, then I'll be in shape to push some big PSI. Heck, my build was so on point I made 400whp with only 8psi of boost. Imagine the potential with forged internals.

Definitely open to suggestions on internals etc. I should start a poll. Better to have a totally refreshed/built GE block, or a used GTE block? I think I can accomplish the same goals with either. But can't afford to buy a GTE block and also have it refreshed. That would be pretty ridic $.

Forgive me if i am wrong but please checky my suggestions. 400whp on 8lbs but with high compression of a GE That would be something on the low compression.

i would suggest use the piston change opportunity to lower and hence control cylinder pressure with boost.

A few things came to mind while reading other than i suspect you were looking for an excuse to go inside the block.

Port flow should be less important under boost so keeping ports small for better gas velocity off boost at the low end may be desirable.

In the end boost you can control but you may want somethong more driveable off boost.

Just my thoughts az i was speechless when i read you lost a cylinder.

For sure, if I build my block it will get dishes forged pistons and rods. Nows the time to set it up for future growth. The heads just gonna get refreshed with upgraded valve springs.
