i did a flush yesterday with Toyota Dot 3, siphoned out the master and poured new fluid, bled all four corners and continued to add fluid as needed.

As i was doing this i kept getting a VSC, ABS light with a Beep. It came on and off.

After i finished it was fine till i went to press the brakes and the warning light came back on.

Anyone know if something needs to be reset? im not getting any codes, and have reset the ECU twice with no effect.

Any info is appreciated.

thanks

I remember this happening in the shop once, I think it might have something to do with air in the lines/low fluid.

thanks for responding,

it was the ABS VSC light

i was able to reset the ecu, no light has come back, how ever i get a funny noise at the end of a stop. also there is a small interruption in hydraulic pressure while this is happening like the hydraulics system is releasing which makes me loose about a foot of braking till it grabs again or i depress the pedal again.

Maybe ABS unit failing? IDK..im gonna try to continue to diagnose, i think the lights came on due to low fluid while bleeding but never went away.

To bench bleed the master brake cylinder unit itself, you have to activate ABS...which is done through a scan tool called Toyota Technocraft Diagnostic Tool "S2000" (made by Denso, part number 09991-60100, cost $3k) and I think also the diagnostic 'card' which is another 600 bucks.

I have a trustworthy mechanic that swapped out the master brake cylinder for me and since the scantool is crazy expensive and I need my brakes, I THINK WHAT HE DID was he activated the ABS by slamming on the brakes and bled the brakes again. No more inconsistent brake pedal.

Props to my man Eli @ Project-X.

Hmmm, interesting, do you think i may have air in the ABS? How quick did he bleed the brakes after slamimg it to activate the ABS? 30mins or so

I think he did it right after activating the ABS b/c that opens up some channels or something which might contain air bubbles...? Sorry, wish I could help you there but the GS is my first car with this integrated booster/ABS thing and I don't know too much about cars in general either.

Thanx Coco..i have tried slamming the brakes to activate the ABS, but little luck. i still get that funny hydraulic release at the end of every short stop. feels like something is send a signal to the master to release pressure.

hea lali whatz up i have a funny feeling that if your brake still feel mushy feeling then you may still have Air in the line try rebleeding all over again to be on the safe side

Hey buddy,

i did. i have bled 3 times. No mushy pedal at all. The brakes are nice and tight, and the car stops on a dime. its just the pressure release at a short smooth stop. like a solenoid is opening up in the abs/master, causing the car to travel another 3 feet before i depress on the pedal again.
