Default Handbrake warning light

On my lexus is220d the Hand-brake warning light turns on maybe once every 2-3 month, i could stay on for a few hours / days then it goes away.

Last time the light turned on was yesterday, maybe after making a fast turn / braking

The handbrake switch is fine.

Any idea's?

I dont know in the Lexus but in a previous car I had it mean that the brake fluid was low it makes sense since u saying it goes on when u turn quickly it can be the fluid goes to the side and triggers the sensor check it out just in case

I've had the same thing happen (not with my IS though) and it ended up being the brake fluid which was low. I'm betting it's what Albis350 suggested as well.

Are you sure the battery terminals are making proper contacts? And did you try to drain the brake fluid or did you just remove the cap?
