Default Install Question about Eibach Pro Kit

Today I was at discount tire getting a tire fixed on my other car. Anyways, I asked the dude about any shops that can put my eibach pro kit on. He gave me a couple of places but said "make sure that you get it aligned after you get the springs installed". He said my tires would be gone in 3 months if not. Does this sound correct? I don't understand how lowering a car could make it get out of alingment?

Thanks,

Comb

Because suspensions are not perfect, i.e. they do not maintain their alignment from top to bottom of full travel. So, by lowering the car the suspension geometry is altered,...slightly. Drive it for a couple weeks after installation and then have a four wheel alignment done.

Thanks clubfoot. Damn this sucks. I figured the kit and install would be 350.00 tops. Now add alignment on top of that and it got expensive.

Thanks for your response.

you can not adjust the camber, just the front toe. All i did was a front end toe adjustment that is what i was told all i needed to do (someone correct me if im wrong). You will need to find a shop that has a "pit" type alingment machine.... however the prokit is not too low so some shops have ramps to assist you to get the car on the rack.

good luck!

I had my Eibach Pro Kit installed by a local shop here in the SF Bay Area, CA. They have done it many times on a 2IS and other Lexus cars before I came to them. So I know it was done right. I dropped it off in the morning and came back 5 hours later. I paid $270 for the install. I drove 500 miles and took it to a local chain tire shop for alignment. I paid $70. Since there is no camber adjustment on a RWD, they adjusted the toe only. This is a conservative drop and cambers are not very far from stock. However if toe is off, that will wear your tires faster.

Suggestions: Find a shop that has done the install before. If your local Lexus dealer will do it, great. If you can't find a shop, ask a lot of questions before you have someone do it. If you don't know what questions to ask, I'm sure many people in this forum can help you. Remember, this is your baby so don't go cheap on the install. You get what you pay for. Around $300 sounds good for the install. As for alignment, under $100 bucks sounds about right. Keep in mind, there are many types of alignment. I know people who had custom alignment and paid more. As long as toe is adjusted back, you should be fine.
