Question Where is the MAF sensor?

I’ve had this glorious car for a just over a week now and notice my MPG (reset when I picked the car up) is 21.8. I have been very careful on the throttle covering mostly motorway miles, cruising between 65-70mph. Tyres are 33 psi all round. On both my previous Jags with same size engine I could get 25-26mpg driving like this.

I had a similar issue with an old Porsche 944 many years ago and improved the mpg by carefully cleaning the MAF sensor. Could someone tell me where this is in the engine bay?

Edit: I did search here for ‘MAF’ but no results.

Look at the air tubing that runs from the air box to the engine itself. It should be offset to your left and towards the front as you face the car with the hood open. There should be a plug with wires attached sticking out of one of the housing pieces attached to the tubing. The MAF is on the inside of the housing. I just swabbed mine with isopropyl alcohol. Good thing to do every so often.

That is not a good thing to do, maf sensor cleaner only.
It's a placebo unless the sensor has lots of debris on it anyway.

I get about 22 mpg on mixed driving. Here is a video, made by a Toyota-trained tech, and it provides a good discussion on cleaning the MAF.

The MAF spray cleaner looks good, but isn’t a general automotive electrical cleaner spray (and I don’t mean WD40) just as effective instead?

MAF cleaner doesn't leave any residue, that's what you're trying to get rid of.
If you can find an electrical contact cleaner that evaporates as fast with no residue it will work too.

Thanks, that’s what I thought. I’m pretty sure I used electrical contact cleaner spray on previous vehicles, though admittedly, that was 10 years ago, or more.
