Default ALH Problem

I replaced the entire headlight assembly with factory parts. Now the driver' side light moves way to fast and far on turns and the passenger side does not move at all. Any ideas. Checked codes and the only code that seems relevant is a steering column wire harness code, but they were working fine before the replacement. Thanks.

please post all of the codes…
What was problem with the original headlight?

also, which light did you change, left or right?

did you disconnect the battery to reset the system or did you try to reset the system with the code reader.

I just watched this AFS video and it sounds like low speed and high speed operate differently.

Replaced both of them. The old ones were working before I replaced them. Yes we reset the codes. I will get the exact code and post later. I saw on another thread that when you start the car there is calibration where the lights should move slightly to self calibrate? I do not remember mine ever doing this.

The lights only move up and down when you start the car. I just started my 2007 in the dark garage but cannot check the left/right functionality until it’s dark outside. I did put the car in gear, ebrake off and turned the wheel but the headlights didn’t move.

since you said the old ones worked fine, I would first question the headlight assemblies you just installed.
were they used or new OEM?

as for the codes…ignore B1421 and B1424, that just means the dash sensor doesn’t see the sun.
DshngDaryl had the B1262 code…not sure how he resolved it or it never came back
B1441 sounds like an HVAC servo actuator…I repaired one in my 2002.

Thanks. They were both brand new OEM full assemblies. Set me back $2800.

when you start the car, do the headlights move up/down one cycle?
Do you have an AFS OFF light on in the left dash cluster?

They do not move up/down one cycle. The AFS Light is off. I toggled it back and forth to make sure it was actually not bypassed.

did you install them or someone else?
can you confirm all connectors were reconnected?
if so, the new OEM assemblies would be suspect…if you have the old ones, can you reinstall them, that is, if you did the work?
Do you have TechStream?
BTW, are you near Cocoa Beach, asking because I have TechStream we could use it to run some diagnostics

Snap On Tools reader. My buddy is an autobody guy at a Porsche dealer. He is going to use their shop scanner. He believes the problem lies with a control module not the headlight assemblies. I am pretty sure all of the connectors were plugged back in. Seeing my old headlights never did that auto calibrate giggle on start up I suspect the problem existed before the switch out. Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply. I will post when I know something new and the codes that come from the shop scanner.
