Question P1300 Code - Igniter problem???

PROBLEM SOLVED!

For some unknown reason the digital gauge for my air ride thats hooked up to the fuse block to start when the car starts was causing the light to go on. Such a pain in the **** to figure out. It was working fine for just under a year... then all the sudden? Very strange, glad it didn't cost a lot. Thanks everyone for all the help!

Was that the only code that was coming up? If it was cleared has it come back on yet?

P1300 - IGNITOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION

Yes its the only code coming up. It was cleared several times and still returns. I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow morning.

$180 for diagnostic check.. who knows after that.

Pretty involved diagnosis on this code. If you are not too familiar with back probing, checking voltages, and checking for open/shorted circuits its probably best to have a auto tech check it out. Let me (us) know how it goes and what it takes to fix it.

Basically the tech guy at Lexus said that I need the igniter replaced.

He said it will cost $825.

I asked why it runs fine it said its on the verge of going out. It could continue to run fine for a long time but theres a chance it could just stop working.

Debonair already gave the list of probable causes. If you could ask him to give you the manual on how to check it by uploading on here.

As requested. As with all diagnostic/repair information I provide please use it at your own risk. This scan is from a 2000 GS300 Manual but the diagnostic information SHOULD be the same.

I replaced the ignitor. Same problem.

*BTW: The dealership said the cost for the part was $600 dollars.... and the total with install was $825...

it took me 45 seconds to install... and they wanted $225 for it.... christ

Fully check the ignition system. Spark plugs, coil packs, coil (the one that says HOT DO NOT TOUCH). If all of the igntion system is properly working. The next probable cause would be the harness to the ECU.

They called back and said the problem AGAIN is the igniter... that the igniter I got from macd off his engine swap as a replacement, is also bad..

mind you this is after they told me this is very rare and hardly ever happens to the car... both instances the car starts up and acts fine... everything is go... but the tech insists that both igniters are faulty and he wants to charge me $700 now to replace it

he insists that if he orders the igniter and replaces it, it will work, and if not he wont charge me. im scared that they know what it is, will order the igniter, fix the REAL problem (whatever that may be), pop the igniter in and say that was the problem.

*I may just order the igniter myself and install it

can anyone find a cheap price on part # 89621-30020 ?
