Default Vsc lights

After checking 05 with techstream VSC, VSC OFF lights came on. What is the best way to turn them off?

Either build a reset tool or use a paper clip.
Read this thread first:

The Techstream uses a couple of busses to communicate with, one of which is the CAN bus. Unfortunately, the CAN bus hardware will cause an error on the 2002 - 2005 SC430s and you'll need to reset the error. You can also fabricate an adapter for the Techstream that will prevent the error from occurring. There's another thread that shows you how to create the adapter tool.

Others have built the adapter also adding their own twists to it.

VSC LIGHT Thanks for the response Harold57. I knew I had read it somewhere but couldn't find it when I needed it.

A lot of us have done a VSC light reset tool. Well worth it if used once a year (in some cases used often)!

Harold, I was reading an old thread where you were having trouble getting the techstream to work but the thread pettered out before you got it going. Have you got it going now or still without it? I cant get mine going. It boots but as soon as I try to use the lefthand menue, it asks me for a "new code" Which I dont have so that is where I am stopped. I am running it on a Win 7 (64bit) system.

Oh, also, is that VSC light problem only up to the 05 cars or will my 06 also have the problem.

Jim

It will not be a problem on your 06. Just 05's and earlier.

Good to know. But I have the problem.and I dont know if it is because the VSC button is turned off or not. Pressing the button, it goes down and then returns, NO click, No position change, just a press like a keyboard key.

Not sure whether you have resolved the issue. Some time ago, I ran into the same problem and did a trick, which I later posted as below:

"The other day, I needed to jump-start my 2004 SC430 using a compact battery pack. Afterwards the VSC, VSC-off and engine-check lights stayed on. I turned the car off, and pressed and held the VSC button (the one next to the cup holder) while turning the key to re-start the car. I kept holding the VSC button down until all the lights on the dash board went off. The VSC/VSC-Off/engine lights went off too! Not sure whether it was a pure dumb coincidence or an easy way to re-set the lights."

All you need is a paper clip or wire, turn off the ignition, connect the OBD contacts from the photo, turn on the ignition and wait for the VSC to flash. Turn off the ignition, remove the paperclip, turn on the ignition, wait 15 seconds and start engine. Enjoy your car.

Since you already have Techstream, you can just go back in and do a Zero Point Calibration to remove the VSC & VSC OFF lights. No need to jump the pin #4 & #14.

Once the VSC & VSC OFF lights came on, this is the message when you open Techstream.
