Default ipod connection question...

hi all, i'm a virgin sc430 owner on an 2003 plate. just got it and love it...

i'm trying to get an ipod connection to the stereo system (mark levison) but my audio guy says at first glance it will only feed off the fm radio which is unsatisfactory because there's a constant hissing sound and interference. can someone please advise ASAP?

thanks in advance

There's an excellent thread on here that has a link to step by step instructions on how to plug in a harness that produces an iPod connection. I think this is it:

I think this is for an 05 and up.

Will it work on on 03?

I installed the SL3U on mine and ran the aux input jack into the center console storage between the two seats next to second 12 volt power socket.

That will provide you a line level input that you can use with any portable music device.

For now I'm running a cassette adapter, as well. My old sony model sounded like crap... I found a generic brand that sounds outstanding. Also found out that you have to set your phone's volume to about 75% or 80% for the sound to be the best, and have the best mix of bass and highs. It's good enough that I really can't see spending $200+ on an ipod integration kit.

The 6 disk changer also means that you can always have at least 80-100 extra songs on deck at all times, so this car is pretty much taken care of in the music department.

No matter how good the cassette adapter, you can't get anything more than 16KHz and even then it rolls after not long after 12KHz.

I think you've convinced me to do this, and install a tablet in the old nav screen.. instead of what I was originally going to have to do (replace the OEM radio, AND buy a $400 harness)

thank you, and I hope I get the install done soon. Going to call them tomorrow.
