Default Radar Dectectors

Can anyone recommend a Radar dectector that could be integrated well into the SC. I don't want wires and stuff running from the power adapter on the dash.....etc..

Thanks

Valentine 1. Use the hard wire kit and mount the unit on the visor. No wires will show and it's easy to remove when you park.

FOR SURE, the V1... its the best one out there, better than the passport and k40... i have one in my lex and it works really well.
for i think 39 extra dollars, you can buy the concealed module and put it in your visor like larry said/

Make that 3 out of 3 votes for V1. I read on the mag that V1 scored 97 points(100 being the best) compared to four other RDs. The others were 20s, 40s, 50, and then 60s.... i think!
I am getting one soon!

Made for any car with winshield mounted mirrors. but i guess its not a Lex genuine mirror. nevertheless, it'll be sweet to have one of these for our Lex...

Yeah I think he would..I read about where he had to put the stuff in his car...in the 3rd brake light housing and such. Where would we put it in ours for it to be affective you think?
Keep in mind that the one in the mirror is just the display, where does the hardware go....anybody?

Default Go with the Valentine

I have had a Valentine for years. When I got the SC430, I got a new wire kit from the company for about $8 and had the dealer wire it in to a switched power source. The cord comes out at the top near the passenger visor.

I started with the V on the visor, but that's really close to the passenger, and far to the right of me. After about a month, I switched to the windshield mount, which I have never used before, high on the windshield, but down below the black tinting. This works great, and the mount has never come off the windshield yet, even though I put the detector on and off all the time.

This mount is a little harder to use, but you get the hang of it eventually, and I find this to be a better location in this car. In my old SC400, I had it on the visor mount for 10 years.

You guys might want to try that.

But above all else, get the wiring done so that the cord does not hang down and say to every one "There is a radar detector in here, steal me." An elegant car deserves an elegant installation.

Default Citation for magazine

Davin-
Do you have a citation or a link for that test article? I have a K40 installed in my SC430 and thought that was the creme de la creme but if its not I need to know! It sure beats the Passport that I used to have but thats not the real challenge is it?

The installation - done by the dealer (DiFeo, NJ) is beautifully integrated into the car. I wish I had a digitial camera to show you how they did it.

Also, I have just put down a deposit on the GX to replace aging RX (which also has K40) so I would like to know what to install in the truck when the time comes.

Thanks!

P.S. No tickets so far - knock on wood.

you can go to radartest.com to find out results, however, i think there results are totally bogus..

With Valentine 1, the testers buy the product straight from a store, not from the factory... so i think V1 testing is the most realiable....

you can also go to car and driver.com and find results...

Passport and K40 try to beat V1, all three are great, but V1 beats them by 3 seconds, which can help a lot!!!
