Default Will Someone Explain???

Greetings!
Very odd happening...was replacing instrument cluster and had key turned on to adjust steering wheel...inserted 1 plug and bam...car went totally dead. Thought I blew a fuse...checked and all were good...could not even get a click with key turned on...as a last resort I tried to jump it with cables and low and behold it started! Any ideas on what happened????

Possibly faulty ground or some sort of short circuitry maybe. This is why you should disconnect the battery.

How long did it stay running? Any further signs of electrical problems?
