Default Check engine light not working??

Have a 1992 Lexus SC400 and it seems to be acting weird, (Thread called "Bucking/surging around 40 MPH") It would seem that the check engine light would turn on, (unless it had Tranny Problems), but regardless of the issues now, and of the past, it has not turned on.The problem I had before, (TPS filthy), among other problems, would have ticked the check engine light on, or would it have not?
Thanks

(PS: I did try turning the key to "ACC" but no go W/ the light.)

so your CEL does not light up at all?, it should come one with the key in the "ON" position. It should also stay lit until the car is started for a second or two

if its not coming on at all either the bulb is out or your ECU is on its way out

I'm thinking the bulb is burned out, because the CEL was on for a while (previous owner put chrome wheels on it, sub-woofer, and didn't take very good care of it...)
I saved it!!!

take the cluster out and either replace the bulb or swap it with one that you know is working (i.e. the door ajar bulb)

it would help a lot in solving your problem if you can see if you have any error codes being thrown

yes, 93mb is correct, as soon as you start the car, CEL should come on for a quick second then off...if not you def have a blown bulb! (y) switch bulbs as recommended and your good to go! keep us posted!

I looked to see if the bulb worked at "on" position, nothing, no CEL at all so the bulb is burned out.
Is it auto zone's policy that they cannot check for codes if the light isn't on, cuz i wanna see if it will throw code.
What light should I use to replace the CEL, i think the door ajar lamp is a good idea, if it works that is. and how do i get into the cluster?
