I would go ahead and swap in a 2jzgte if you want to boost. but you can if you want go back to 2jzge or replace the HG and rebuild your motor, by that time you could have got a GTE

im no expert but its pretty much a direct "bolt" on. but plug and play not really i went ahead got my harness converted, i tried doing it myself and that was a NO GO! i ran into a lot of issues. get the harness conversion

with the ecu i used my 2jzGTE ecu. when you buy a swap most likly it will come with it. im pretty sure you can not use your 2jzge ecu

like i said im no expert but thought id let you know what i know, hope it helps good luck

Well there are a couple of variable you've failed to address.

What are your power goals?

What's your budget?

Need to answer those before you get into the whole "Swap or Not to Swap" topic.

If that's the case for the 2JZ-GTE swap.

If money isn't a issue then go for broke.

1jz and 2jz prices went down.. at least here in calli there is a 1jz and a 2jzgte vvti about 30 mins from me one is 1300 and the 2jz is 2300.. if there is no budget then go 3.4 stroker engine from titan and go for full 1200hp.. lol

Hmmm.. So, you're rich and unemployed? Thought about making an NA drift car? There's a thread about it somewhere here but you'd have to put in a lot of work and probably $20k but it would be the meanest sounding drift car out there! I assume you already have the LSD?

If you go the GTE route, expect to shell out between $5k and $10k, depending on how much of it you do yourself. It's a drop-in motor (it's exactly the same as the GE but with different heads and intake, basically). Even once you've got the GTE engine and ECU (which you will need to make sure you have, because the fuel management is totally different,) to make the HP you're looking for, you're probably going to want to go single turbo. There are plenty of kits out there now for converting from twins to SBT (single big turbo). However, once you've done that, you should be looking at around 450-550HP.

If you went NA-T, you're talking Turbo Kit (2k up), injectors (another 1k-ish?) and ECU piggyback device to run the fuel management, plus a bit of heavy tuning. So... 5-10k vs 3-6k. Either way, you'll have fun.

5- 10 k for a gte swap? hell no thats stupid.. gte wiring will need to be made and converted to a rear sump most likely.. and when you do a gte you gotta change your tranny the stock 5spd will blow up.. so r154.. or if you go 6spd thats like 3k just for the tranny so yes if you did gte and a 6spd you would be in the 5-10k range.. if you are gonna do some serious drifting you are gonna need a full roll cage..

^^^ I dunno about the price range.

Just with the stock twins and auto tranny I paid 6K for my swap + labor.
