Default swap or no swap???

hey everybody. i recently bought a 1995 sc300 (5-speed). i have been looking into doing some performance mods but i am unsure of what i wanna do. first things first, i need to figure out what motor i wanna use. what would everyone recomend? its either i buy a 2jzgte and swap that in, or keep the
2jzge and rebuild the motor. im talking like bore it, do other internals, turbo, ecu work, etc. the 2jzge is pretty much the same motor as the 2jzgte just without twin turbo's right?

how easy is it to get HP out of a stock 2jzge and is it worth it?
should i swap a 2jzgte?
either way its gonna be expensive i know that much.

thanks

how many miles are on your ge motor...you can make the same power if not more out of 2jzge for the same amount of money it would cost to buy the gte swap....plus you already got a 5 speed in the whip....i would turbo the ge you have in the car....

ya i started to think about it a little more today and realized that a 2jzgte is pretty expensive and i could probably get a decent amount of HP for that much money. the car has a ton of miles (188,000). thats why i was thinking of rebuilding it. the motors are pretty much the same right? just without turbos.

2jzgte has better flowing head! and more selection on parts and easier to find

Ok first of all the search button is your friend. Every question you have about a swap you can found by searching.
Second of all the engine are NOT the same. The heads are different aswell as the oil pan, on a stock GE its not tapped where as on the GTE it is tapped. I belive the compresion is alo different. The rest you can search for. The stock w58 tranny will not hold up past 350whp-375whp since you have 188,000 miles on it. I mean brand new they can only hold 400whp-440whp. I think the swap is a better idea but its your money so the only advice I have is to use the search button for all your answers. Goodluck with what ever you do.

The question is how much do you want to spend. Boost is addictive the more you get the more you want. I would start with brakes, suspension and maintainance and do research on boost options in the mean time. You could do 2JZGE-T, 2JZGTE or 1JZGTE like others mention I would go with a GTE platform just for the ease of tuning. Check www.clubna-t.com and www.supraforums.com for info.

ok, but if were to rebuild the 2jzge motor, i could get a much lower compresion ratio out of it, and put on the GTE heads if i wanted. so basically i would just be starting out with the block.
maybe this is a better question....with the parts from a 2jzgte, could i make the GE a GTE? if i were to just basically keep the block, i could bore it, port and polish the heads, etc, to meet the standards of the GTE.

am i way out of line or am i on the right track?
