Question V8 E-Shift transmissions

Can someone please tell me the Lexus V8 models and years that had the E-Shift automatic transmission. I'm looking into swapping out my 1993 4 spd auto transmission with the E-shift 5pd. Also please post any information on doing this type of swap. Thanks!

No SC400 had the E-shift as an option.

I believe that it will cost too much to go the Lexus route in getting e-shift for your car. First, you will need the transmission from a GS400 that had the e-shift, then you would have to find a GS400 ECU that had the e-shift and that probably won't work without modification because of the difference in engines between the '93 and '98-00.

I forgot it's name, but there is a system to replace your factory ECU (the turbo guys probably know what I'm talking about) and I think they have an option to have e-shift.

I'm building a SC400 turbo. Check out www.turbozilla.com or www.sc400turbo.com soon. The site is currently down but hope to get it back up within a few weeks.

Money isnt really the issue. I plan on sending the E-shift transmission to soundperformance.com or leveltem.com to build it up.. Then do the swap. If the E-Shift ECU is separate from the Core ECU and just relies on basic siganl inputs then I dont think it would be a problem. But if the Eshift/Automatic transmission ECU is part of the core ECU or separte and relies on signals coming direclty from Core ECU then it would be a problem. If thats the case I would have to go with an after market E-Shift kit/ECU.

Can you guy give me list of companys that have E-Shift type kits/ECU/Controllers. I know levelten has one but for the sc400 yet.

Thanks.

A list? I'd be the happiest guy on earth if I even could find 1 company doing an Eshift kit. Look at my other posts about this subject. So far no luck.

Level 10 is a big disappointment. From the wording on their website, you'd definitely expect that they have a kit for the SC400. But all they're saying that they WILL have one. They're not even giving an estimate of when it's supposed to be available.

Any of you guys know what ECU he might be refering to?

Or do you guys know if theres a standalone transmission control ECU available. It doesnt have to be specifically for the LEXUS or SC400 cars.

The AEM plug-n-play ECU is supposed to have pin-outs for up and down shift calls. You can then wire these pins to what ever buttons you want. You could use the cruise control stalk, or perhaps mount some buttons on the wheel. Perhaps even substitute a GS400 steering wheel.

The AEM ECU is plug-compatible with both the SC300 and Toyota Supra. As far as compatibility with the SC400s automatic, I don't know. I doubt the SC4 or any 5spd auto models would be compatible. My guess is that any 2JZ derivative that doesn't have the 5spd automatic would be compatible.

AEM is plug compatible but the wiring is different from the tt supra to the n/a supra and sc300.....also i would look into all the lawsuits on supraforums about level10......alos i believe the 4spd is a stronger tranny and better suited for high hp...as the 5spd isnt actually a 5spd...its a 1st gear and then an overdrive for the 1st gear....so that becomes a weak link.....do what cha like but id reccommend building the 4spd.....if someone makes an upgradeble tranny for that car....Jeff

Did Lance's 600+rwhp (don't remember hp) IS300 blow up its tranny yet? That was an automatic 5spd... I'm referring to the one featured in Turbo magazine a while back was a T72 or somthing.
