Default Power Lock Question

I don't know why I never paid any attention to this before.

I know the car has power locks, but are they suppose to automatically lock when you turn the ignition on and unlock when you turn the ignition off?

My car is a 95 SC400

Thanks
Mousiee

92 doesnt. I would bet somewhere up in the model year it might become auto-lock. I also like how the 92 sc doesnt care if you wearing a seat belt.

I would guess around 97, because I think my 97 Camry had the feature.

I was just curious....

my 93 sc300 automatically locks once I start driving. The doors are from the soarer though along with the panels. It doesnt auto unlock though. But I dont need to unlock the driver side (passenger side USDM) to open from the inside.

Aftermarket car alarms tend to lock the doors for you. I believe that mine does, but that's because I have a clifford alarm.

They should lock when the engine is on and when you put it into drive it locks. It should unlock when you put the car in park and turn the engine off.

Mine doesn't auto lock or unlock.
Im glad it doesn't either, 'cus when I had a car alarm that was set to auto-lock,
I'd get out the car for whatever reason, shut the door, naturally, and then realize Im F-ed.
More than once!!
It was such a PITA.
I'd prefer to lock my doors when I feel like it, and unlock just the same.
I don't need the car to do it for me.
Anyway.. I have a '92 SC300 for the record.

So I'm hearing some do and some do not? I doubt the 92 had it b/c it was the oldest most basic year?
