It all started with a passenger window that wouldn't go up but would go down. I think I narrowed it down to a bad driver's side switch, but then after getting it to go back up by manipulating the switch a few days later there is no power to either window or the moonroof. The window switches don't even light up with the regulat green light that signals power. What could have happened and why would the moonroof stop working also? Could the broken switch have got stuck and burned something out? I checked all the fuses and they seemed fine. Please help!
oooh that happened to me. This is that i did, open the door and look for the rubber shroud that covers all the wires going to the driver door. I had to cut it off and look at the wires. I forget which one is the window one but it was broken from opening and closing the door. I re-soldered them and shrink wraped it and viola good as new. Let me know if this works!!!
Well, I tried it but unfortunately I was unable to find any wires that were not entact. I also noticed that my tilt feature on the steering wheel doesn't work either. Aaah! It's like everyday now I found some other electrical feature that doesn't work, but a week or so ago everything worked perfectly! What should I do now?
It doesn't make a grinding noise but you can here something trying to work. What's weird is that the sound comes from the passenger dash around the aitbarg. What's up with that? It's best described as a whine and clicking with certain directions pressed on the tilt control. I have no idea what to do because it may be a small part of a large electrical problem. I never thought I'd run into something like this with a Lexus. Damn, I'm really starting to regret swapping out my perfect tan interior for this black interior....ahhh...It looks great but has been nothing but problems so far...
I just bought the complete wiring diagram book for the car, so when that arrives I'm hoping to be able to diagnose the problem. Anyone have any input on the situation that might be helpful?
Check the window relays you could have one that burned up. You need to get a volt meter and start checking the connectors for power. Go threw the system that controls it. The wiring diagram should help you in what to test in the car. Check the fuse block to see if there is power being supplied to it. you could have a possible cut wire or wires in the system. I don't like the fact that you mentioned that you somehow rigged the switch. You could have possibly backfeed power into another system. The tilt wheel sounds like a matter of occurance. The gears inside could be warped out. If you swapped the original parts back into the car and you don't have a issue then it might be a problem with the dark interior you got(the switches). Check to make sure you didn't accidently cut wires while pulling the parts out. If you have any other info let me know thanks.
