Default Thoughts on Window Issue

I'm hoping this is the right place to post (I'm new here). Anyway, the other day my driver's side window decided to completely quit. It had been intermittently been not working but it would eventually go up or down. But now it is completely stuck in the down position.
When I purchased the car, the driver's side window switch would only operate when the door was closed (for both windows). I've read that this could be a window regulator, but I've also seen some folks mention the possibility of the entire door harness needing to be replaced.
Just hoping to get some opinions on what this issue could be.
Thanks to anyone who can help

For the driver side window completely not working anymore I'd assume its the motor, does it make any noise when pressing the switch?

And for the window switch only working for both windows when the door is closed, that's most likely a damaged wire that goes through the door and into the cabin by the door hinges, they can break due to age and all of the years that door has been opened and shut. On second thought, if there were to be a broken wire that may be what's keeping your D/S window from working and why it intermittently would stop working in the past. I would look into that instead of buying and just throwing parts around, although it may need it if the window was already operating slowly.

Sorta agreeing with you on that. Hoping it’s just the harness. Do you think it would be worth purchasing a new one off eBay or just try to splice the old one back together?

Me personally I wouldn't purchase a new harness without knowing if it actually is the harness or if its the window regulator/motor/not properly lubricated/stuck in place.

If you want to try testing if it's just a broken wire, Here you go.
