Dash Cam
NOTE : The instructions have you mount the camera to the RIGHT HAND SIDE of the cover around the mirror mount.
On installing I damaged the panel clips holding the roof console (map light assembly) in place. This must be very common because they quote the part # .
Getting and reading /understanding the instructions is key. I did struggle to get the connector behind the mirror to release, and dressing the wiring harness so it does not interfere with reinstalling the roof consul took some extra effort.
Correct Part Numbers Dashcam PT94976221 y harness PT 949-48210. Replacement Roof Console assembly Clips 90467-09245
Note this dashcam fits lots of Lexus models. You need a model specific wiring harnes.

P.S. If you are thinking of doing a self install, see if your parts dept will print out the 16 pages of instructions for you first. YOU NEED THESE INSTRUCTIONS. It shows it's easy to break several clips and plates, if you pull in the wrong spot or direction.

In my vehicle, I have noticed a black plastic cover on the right side of the mirror with the same footprint as the dash cam.
I think driver accessibility of any cam controls would be better on the left side if either side worked.
In my younger years, I would have tackled this project, including a wire harness under the headliner. I will probably seek professional help from the dealer.
Thank you, everyone, for your valuable input.

I've been looking at the Fitcamx Dash Cam as mentioned by others in this thread. I'm impressed with its mounting as well as with its location behind the mirror, nearly out of sight. It's not very accessible there, but I think any controls must be accessed through a phone app.

Their sole purpose is recording in case of an accident.
And the OEM and most others are obvious cams and don’t blend in like the Fitcam.
