I agree with others, if there isn't a known software fix they'll never figure it out.

I wouldn't even bother reporting this to the dealer because I am sure they can't fix it, it has to be some software glitch with the rain sensor reading and a timer. Like every other carmaker (except Tesla), it appears having OTA updates to the car's software is worthless because - they never make any fixes and issue updates.

Been using the intermittent part where it uses rain sensor. After a few, I wished to go back to the timed intermittent wiper. The sensor doesn't work very well.

Don't say that until you adjust how sensitive the rain sensor is. I like the window to get good 'n' wet before the wiper actuates.

Finally had a chance to deal with it a few weeks back with some light rain. The damn thing works when it decides to work, no matter how you have the sensitivity set to. I’d say it works correctly 25% of the time. Some times it would never cycle the wipers even as the windshield was covered with rain. It definitely has programming issues.

Has anyone filed a complaint with the NHTSA (in the US) regarding this issue? It may seem trivial but, at least to me, the larger issue is that it seems there are no planned OTA or FW updates coming out any time soon from Lexus. Not only to address this issue, but the long list of issues/suggestions raised in this forum's sticky post regarding owner-suggested updates to the infotainment system. As the 2024 RX models get out in the wild, I'm curious if they see any differences with problems like this.

Using a wash-n-wax detergent on the car (either at home or at a premium car wash) affects the sensitivity. The beads of water roll around and trigger the wipers at unexpected times. JMHO

Cars with all these 'automatic' features NEVER actuate them the same as when a human is in charge. (braking, headlight and high beams, etc)

I use Adam’s Car Shampoo, no wax or rinse aide in it. Nothing applied to the windshield like rain-X either. Same as on my VW and its intermittent wipers work just fine. I’ll agree that all of these systems don’t always do what you would manually do.

Its either a **** sensor or bad software.

We took a trip through Oregon and Washington with all types of rain. I don't remember them being any different than the auto-wipers on our 2013 RX.

no issues on my 2024 Rx350H automatic wipers.

On the subject of updates, I tried my Digital key again yesterday and for some reason I was able to easily load it onto my phone and also share the digital key with my family members while I still have the App controls for the car.

i remember I tried that in October and as soon as I shared the key I lost all my controls.

Just to clarify, is this the intermittent wipers or the rain-sensing wipers that are having the issue, as I believe rain-sensing is standard across the board?

The intermittent wiper function uses a rain sensor to determine when to sweep the wiper arms. That is when it decides to work.

My older RX had both intermittent and rain sensing, does the new model also or just rain sensing?
