Issue with Infotainment System not loading (black screen)
Hi there,
I am new here and I thought I would share my issue here since the Lexus dealership was not able to help me. They wanted to charge me 144$ an hour just for a diagnosis and they did not even know where to start with the problem.
Just to summarize, I have a 2016 Lexus Rx450h F sport and my issue is that whenever the battery is disconnected from the car and plugged back, the navigation/infotainment system refuses to boot up. When I start the car, I see the Lexus logo booting up on the screen, and I also have access to the front and backup cameras. Other than that, the screen stays black with no access to the radio or navigation.
This happened to me before and to remedy that, I would drive the car for a while, and out of the blue, a loading screen would pop up on the screen saying "System loading. Don't turn off the power." Something like this :
After that, everything works and I have access to the navigation, the radio, and everything else.
I've been searching for a way to reinitialize the system again but I cannot find a way. I checked the fuses, I recently changed the battery, I checked the trouble codes with TechStream and everything is in working order. I also found other threads here stating to remove the negative terminal from the battery for 30 mins and hold the ON button of the radio for 10 seconds after turning on the ignition, but that did not work at all.
If there's any way to find a procedure to boot up the system again or something that can be done, I would really appreciate it if I could get an insight on that.
Try pressing the Map or Menu button. There is a menu option to turn off the display. Either of these (if you have navi) should light it up. If not check fuses. After that it's probably a bigger issue.

Fuses are fine, it's not a problem with the display being turned off. The display is turned on. It is the infotainment system that just did not boot up after the car's battery was discharged. And like I said, after driving the car for a while it would just boot up with the loading screen. But right now it has not booted up and I am looking for a way to make the system load again. (Lots of people are having the same issue, it's probably a software issue)
Hi Guys, has anyone had the same or similar problem as mine one.
The screen went black after welcome Lexus logo. I disconnected the battery for 1-2 mins and then it shows loading the system info couples of time since then.
Went to the Dealership last week, they told me they diagnosed the system and got 2 error codes but still not sure what caused the issue. They cleared the code from the system but I still got loading screen sometime after ignition.
So now most of the time, it is working fine without any issue, but just showing "system loading, do not turn off the power" sometimes.
Does anyone know or have any ideas for what is the problem?
I had similar situation here as yours. I disconnected the battery like 10 seconds and reconnected. At the first beginning after this, the screen showing "System loading. Don't turn off the power", and then everything seems coming back to normal. But once a while, the loading screen keep showing up after ignition.
I went to dealer ship week ago and they tole me they found the 2 error codes but unable to locate the issue. And they just clear the code from the system. But the Loading screen showing again day before and I knew that it was not solved yet.
Juat want to know whether anyone had same or similar issue. Here is my story:
Issue: Black screen. Only logo showing and after that total black screen, no camera, no audio, no nothing at all. Totally black.
It was totally fine before it happened. At the beginning, everything worked fine, 360 camera, nav, audio. And then just 20 meters I drove, the screen went black. Just like that. I tried restart, reboot without lucky. Then I disconnected the battery, it seemed eveything coming back to normal after several loading screen. But again, after couples of days, the same problem.
I went to the dealer ship last week and they got 2 error codes from the system but no sure what cause this error codes.
I have exactly the same situation. Have you heard anything on how to fix it?
I went to Lexus dealership and they told me I would have to replace the whole radio system which they quoted me over $3K.
There is got to be a much more economical way to fix this.

Yes. Mine one was fixed by replace the radio system. The engineer said the one of the chip not working, and it has to replace the whole radio system to make it work. It is expensive according to Lexus staff, around 7-10K pounds. But it is warranty covered.
Kind of similar issue with our (ex) 2016 rx350. The screen would not load when the car was in revers, and often we would see purple color. Luckily the vehicle was still under warranty, dealer replaced the head unit and all was fine.
Hi-
Going through the same issue as we speak for my 2016 RX350.. btw no issues with the battery prior to this fault.
first noticed a couple days prior whenever NAV screen initially loads, started to see a lag. Then it happened… all together after going to 3 Lexus service, root cause is the stereo. All in all, since I’m out of warranty, estimated repair is about $5200…
- note- also did try removing the battery terminals (both) and tapping them together (discharge all power from capacitors), checked fuses (good), and cleaned micro-sd card- no joy
****also found that even if I buy a used radio unit and the micro-sd card from eBay, etc - IT WILL NOT FUNCTION*** it must be taken to the dealer to configure it to match the VIN# of the car
****the total price includes an inspection of the radio unit. Meaning that Lexus/Toyota recycles and repairs the unit(s). Due to this, was told that if there are any issues with the unit and require repair, the customer is also liable for the repair costs. Basically, any other damage found, water intrusion/spillage, modified cable(s), etc you will be dinged on it. Making the overall cost on upwards of $5500-$6500

Called around a few stereo shops along with any my motorheads who would know someone who can troubleshoot this. Found my stereo shop- Street Sound Plus- http://streetsoundplus.com/ - called up Tom Chung to see his take. He ended up finding a solution through his contacts. He mentioned that the power board had to be replaced along with some other parts. Though 1 week turn-around, just got it installed and it worked-!!! Final bill- $1700.00 (Repair, install, taxes)

Any update from Street Sound Plus? Did they fix it?
