Default Rear doors will open when handle is pulled, even if locked.

Does anyone know if there is a setting (other than child locks) that will prevent the rear doors from opening when the handle is pulled even when the doors are locked. My 2014 Honda Pilot rear doors will not open if the doors are locked and the handle is pulled. Need to be unlocked before the handle will allow opening.
In the Lexus if a small child pulls on the door handle from the inside twice the door will open even if locked. If you are driving down the road, this could be very dangerous. The child locks are very inconvenient when adults are seated in the rear since doors can only be opened from the outside.

You can make the changes to the Door Locks through the navigation screen.

How would you unlock the doors from rear seats without pulling the handles?

Use the unlock button first.

I don't believe there is an unlock button for rear passengers.

@toyotaman7 is right; there is no unlock button on the RX rear doors, like there is in the Honda Pilot. There is the lock button at the door top that, by design, it can't be used to unlock the door. I understand the OP's question, but it doesn't seem like much of a safety issue. A child so young so as not to be able to be taught not to pull on the door handle is going to be secured in a car seat.

Thanks for the reply. I must admit we have a unique situation as we have a mentally handicapped daughter and she doesn't understand the potential danger of her pulling the handle. I brought this up because she actually did do this on a test drive. My wife freaked. I'm afraid this could be a deal breaker. Sad, because other than that we loved the car!

We used the child lock for years with our young kids. When an adult sat in the back we asked them to open the window and open the door from outside.

Engage the Rear door child-protector lock.
