I have my map set on .5 mile. The display shows no streets or secondary roads. Is that normal? Was on a County road and the map function never figured out where I was. First "factory" navigation and I’m not impressed! 2017 Rx 350

 

Small right side or larger left side? Small right side I believe shows less detail depending on setting.

 

I believe there is an update, I have a 2017 where the radio/Nav system has been replaced with a 2019 (I believe) and it's much much more detailed than the previous one.

 

Changed the scale from .5 miles to 700 feet and now it showes the secondary roads?????

 

we have a 17 RX and a 19 ES and I don't see any difference in the street or secondary road details. The look of the map, voice recognition etc was definitely updated for 19 but that's it.

 

On mine it shows most of the secondary streets, Parks, shopping centres and even the individual parking spots, all of this was missing from my previous one. Unless there was a setting for this that I was unaware of.

 

Also, 8 inch versus 12 inch were available, until '18 came standard with 12 inch.

 

The 8" was standard in the lowest level and the 12" was an option, but the 12" was standard in the upper trims, at least here in Canada.

 

Correct. If you zoom out you lose details like smaller roads. Zoom in, more detail.

 

Makes perfect sense. Problem solved.
