4RX Mileage Thread
I did a trip from columbus to toledo and back to columbus today. MPG was 22.4 mpg with regular gas on Normal mode. Wasn't heavy on the accel and going 80mph on freeway. not sure how people get 26mpg average. do people calculate old fashion way filling up gas, then dividing that by miles, or rely on MPG gauge.
My wife's 2020 RX 350 recently got more than 30 MPG on a 450 mile R/T (mostly interstates). Highway mileage has been very good since new. City driving is probably in the neighborhood of 18 MPG in warmer weather; less in January!
Just picked up my 2021 RX 450h a week ago. Haven't refilled the tank yet, but the onboard computer says I'm getting a little over 30 in mostly city driving. We use ECO mode on both cars.
The 450 will be used for short trips on city streets as the MPG is much higher.
Cheers!

I'm guessing he is fine with the feeling and others must as well or it likely would not be an option! Not surprising though. You are the one that tried to tell me I didn't understand how the rain sensor wipers worked even though I've driven Toyota's for over 20 years!

Interesting you telling him how "he" feels.

Keep on driving a Toyota for another 20 years and wallow in your ignorance.
Mines fine where I live, slow paced, flat.....she's as smooth as silk. But I use Sport Mode in the big city where it's go, go, go.......

I've taken your advice and requested a name change. I went in wanting to lease the least expensive hybrid they had, and they said it was way more expensive than any of their regular cars. I just looked at the website, and it's devastating to see the ES hybrid for $399/mo + $4,000 at signing when that's less than I paid for my ES 350. And the offer is for 36 months. I'm locked in for 46.
I've only bought used cars before. I was open with them about this being my first lease and I ended up being there on a Sunday night after looking for a car for about 30 days.

I'm driving a new RX 350 AWD and getting HORRENDOUS gas mileage, just like your ES.
My previous Lexus was a 2017 ES 350h and I got 40 mpg city quite easily. I'm getting like
10mpg city in my 2020 RX 350 AWD and can barely get around 17 mpg Highway if I REALLY
GO EASY. Pretty upset with this as I'm getting roughly HALF of the estimated EPA MPG.
I knew the mpg would be bad for the RX, but it should be close to what they say it will get!
I'd be buying HALF the gas I'm buying now!
MPG TIPS:
And for everyone, HOW you drive makes a huge difference. The main thing is starting off from a stop gently,
and don't use the gas pedal to fly up to red lights. Coast a bit if it's not blocking someone behind you. Idling
absolutely destroys your MPG, and that's precisely why Hybrids are SO great in the city. Instead of idling
the gas engine, that's when they switch to battery power, saving you tons of gas. If you accelerate gently
stops in your hybrid, it will take off on electric power at first, also saving you a lot of gas overall.
Leveraging off the MDX versus RX thread, what fuel do you put in your RX, and what gas mileage do you get. I'm on my 3rd RX, (2004, 2013, and 2021), I've always put in regular (87 Octane). Anyone use 88?
"Top Tier" gasoline appears to be the best choice to keep your engine clean. Here is where to get it: https://www.toptiergas.com/licensed-brands/
All gasoline grades at these locations must be treated with an approved detergent at the correct concentration. These are very high standards established by the TOP TIER Program.
All is not lost if you have been buying cheap gas. Get some Chevron "Techron" Complete Fuel System Cleaner from Walmart and put that in your tank every 6000 miles or 6 months.
Always use the recommended octane rating of the manufacturer.
Getting about 16 mpg here in the city.

With the fancy VVT and computer controlled dual fuel injection systems, suspicious minds like mine strongly suspect that Lexus carefully tuned the ignition and fuel injection systems to avoid spark knock using 87 octane, for marketing purposes, which is a far different matter than the question of what octane rating provides optimum performance. I have run 87, 89 (Shell) and 91 (Costco) in mine and am satisfied that either 89 or 91 provides noticeably better performance than 87. The difference is not obvious cruising down the highway at 60 mph., but if you spend some time accelerating uphill or just going uphill at lower rpm for a stretch, it's different and better with a higher octane than 87.
I don't care much about mpg -- if that was a big deal I would have bought a more fuel efficient car.
My two cents' worth.
