Hello, new member here, I'm about to pull the plug and buy a 2016-2018 RX 350 and being that it's winter here in the Ohio valley, I would love everyone's honest opinion about the A/C system in those model years. I'm coming out of a 2014 Infiniti Q50 that had the air purifier system and it never seemed to cool to my liking. My hope is the Lexus, being a bigger vehicle, will have a system with some cooling power. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

 

The A/C in my 2017 RX is flawless. It cools everybody down and I can set it up for just the front of the cabin or the front and rear. The only slight annoyance is it defaults to recirculate when you start the car. Not a big deal.

 

Thanks for the response, if defaulting to recirc is the worst feature, I can live with that.

 

You might be better off with a 17-18 RX. The 16 had problems. Mine is an 18 and so far it's been a gem.

 

Same for our 2017.

 

The hybrid has a more efficient A/C.

 

What are the problems that are occurring with just the 2016? I have a 2016 CPO and the warranty runs out 5/24, so I’d like to have a list to keep an eye on before it’s all on me.

 

There are several forums here pertaining to all the problems of the 2016 RX. Please do a search to read them all. The only problem I have with my 2018 is the freaking drone noise that the dealer says is normal! Tons of reading on that topic!

 

Don’t use aftermarket interior cabin air filters that promise air purification. They dramatically reduce air flow and thus ac efficiency when on auto. Yes you can offset this a bit by cranking up the fan speed but oem filter allows the system to work much better.
