Rear Hatch malfunction, not another bypass switch question! ;)
Hello everyone.
2010 RX350, here.
I tried searching for about 2hrs online and have yet to find exactly what I am encountering.
Rear hatch was functioning properly and all of a sudden won't stay latched/won't operate with fob/dash button.
One long beep.
When trying to manually close, it starts to latch and then immediately comes unlatched.
Tried cleaning the latch assembly with electronics cleaner to no avail.
I would love any input.
Thanks.

It may be that your hatch lock just needs alignment. Take it to a body shop and ask them to look at it before trying a dealer.
The vehicle is 10 years old and with I don't know how many miles. Parts wear out and get out of alignment over time.
It may also be that a sensor in your hatch has failed, or the lock itself. Again, try the body shop first as they will be cheaper than a dealer and the dealer may just refer you to their body shop anyway.

Yes I am 90% sure it's a sensor issue. I just figured that, given it's age, there would be someone with the same problem.
There are no TSBs on the issue so, who knows.
Did you see this thread about the hatch sensors, it has photos and information you could use to further diagnose your issue. Note that raylor4, one of the posters had some new unused sensors he was willing to sell for shipping costs. You could PM him and ask if they were still available if you do need them.

Good luck.
A general comment.
Now that the first year of the 3rd generation RX350's are 10 years old we are seeing a lot more complaints regarding wear and tear items typical of older vehicles.
It does not mean there is anything wrong with the design or manufacture, stuff just wears out on every vehicle as time and mileage add up.
I have seen this before on forums for prior vehicles I have owned.

When I close the hatch manually, there is no electronic activation of the lock. My manual closing method basically shuts and locks in one movement. Wonder if you tried that? Did you close the rear hatch forcefully enough for it to latch manually without having the latch electronically closed?

When the hatch comes close to closing, it draws down the rest of the way.
Do you mean basically "slamming" it?
Ah I did in fact see that particular thread but apparently no the whole thing.
I think in the meantime I am look into disabling this particular system as it seems to be creating a drain on the battery and of course prohibits locking/unlocking all the doors.
Man, those sensors are $$$!
I see now that I also created 2 accounts here, accidentally!! :/

Yes, basically slamming it. But I don't so it with that much force....close it like a regular car trunk. I don't wait for the electronic latch, nor lower so gently as to let the electronic activated lock finish the closure. I'm too impatient I guess. I rarely use the hatch motor to open and close as well. This is the only car I've ever owned with that feature so I'm not really used to it. Hope that made sense
I I just reread your original post as well, something about electronic cleaner for the latch assembly. electronic cleaner is really for ,well, just the electronics or electrical connectors. For the mechanical latch assembly, would recommend lithium grease or something.
