When i push the button on the tail gate on my 2020 RX350 it goes up automatically. I was wondering if my 2010 LX570 is supposed to open automatically when i push the button on the rear hatch.
It goes up automatically when I push the button in the cabin and on the key fob.

Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

 

You're welcome. Manual operation should be to cup the rectangular handle with fingers and pull toward you. The small button at the end should lock the rear tailgate and window with 1 push. Double check with owners manual, you can download one (handy to stick into your phone) on the owners' section of lexus.com...afaik, you need to register with user name and pswd. You can also read or download any and all services done on your truck by Lexus and sometimes by Toyota. You can also see any services declined by original owner(s).

The tailgate does not go up automatically when you push the button from the lift gate itself. It only works with the remote and from inside the cabin. On 2018+ model, they changed it so it works from the tailgate. Hope this helps.

 

Just in case you go hard core offroad, sometimes you may not want the hatch to open automatically unless you want it to. Just in case there's obstacles. And I think it makes sense. Whether Toyota / Lexus was thinking it this way or not... I consider this a better way to convince myself that such 'feature' came from someone thoughtful.

 

I should have read the post for my 2014 before. Bought new shocks thinking that it was the issue. Now got shocks in case one day the ones that it has goes bad... 🤷🏻‍♂️
