Default RX 350 - Reupholster seats?

The creasing and cracking on my wife's seats has gotten so unsightly that I'm considering having them redone. I'm in Los Angeles. Does anyone have any experience with this and can anyone make recommendations?

How about a photo to see whaat you are talking about. You should be able to find a nice matching seat in a salvage yard.

There is hope without replacing the leather. I actually re-painted mine and they look great. I have the tan interior. The cracks were terrible. The problem is the urethane coating over the leather cracks and dirt gets in the cracks and makes it look worse.
The solution is frequent cleaning with mild cleaner, some products and methods are in the linked thread. There are folks selling oem seat upholstery and seats from salvage cars on eBay, but it is not cheap.

For more info look at this thread from the detailing forum https://www.clublexus.com/forums/aut...s-leather.html

If interested in painting them, go to https://www.leatherrenew.com/ They make it easy to look up your seat color. There were really only 3 or 5 colors anyway.

I forgot which show I saw this on but it might have been Wheeler Dealers. I have no personal experience with them but thought I'd pass it on. Please do keep us updated, I am looking into reupholstering mine too.

You should go here
Nacho’s Auto Upholstery in North Hollywood. Old school shop... all hand work.

Let us know how it turns out.

If it’s just the two front seat bottoms I found a leather replacement on eBay for my girlfriend’s RX. Cost me an afternoon and $350 for both. The color match was good and the leather is pretty soft.

You should post a link, I would definitely do this. I have opened up the leather on another car before so it shouldn't be too challenging.

These are the gray color. I believe they have Black and Tan as well. All you need is a pair of hog ring pliers and some hog rings. They should have that on amazon or eBay as well.

Thank you much! I'll definitely buy hog ring pliers this time around...I was a poor college student last time I did this and I tell ya it's not fun using regular old pliers on hog rings!

I have done this job in 2002 Lexus SC 430. You have to remove the seats and them remove the cushion from the chair.

Look at post 9 for my photos and post 14 for another members photos

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...-terrible.html

They do still get dirty from sweat and jeans rub off etc. This weekend after they had been neglected for a year, I cleaned them with some Fantastik spray cleaner (I was desperate and prepared to paint them again), a medium stiff nylon brush to penetrate the cracks, and a bunch of paper towels. I really soaked the seats and let it soften the dirt, then repeated several times.
They appear to be restored back to the just painted condition! My wife was amazed at the results.
