Default Remote start problems

I not sure anyone has installed remote start themselves, but I have installed the module, programmed it and everything looks good, but it don't start.
Yes, I do have Techstream. I followed all instructions, (which was simple plug and play), then ran module setup which went fine. I can now read the module for codes and data and looks good, but when I try to start on the remote I get nothing. I have no codes in any modules.

I press the remote unlock 2 times beeps twice, press and hold a third time it beeps once more and nothing. Anyone got any ideas? Anyone work for a dealer?

Press unlock? sounds backwards, shouldn't it be lock? I wonder how the aftermarket deals with the keyfob not being there - maybe something to look into

You need to hit the lock button, not the unlock. Also, the car needs to be locked before you hit the lock button twice then hold the lock button a third time until the car beeps and the lights flash.

If the car is unlocked, you need to hit the lock button once to lock the doors, then repeat the process listed above.

How much did the Remote Start kit set you back, and did you purchase it from a dealer?

If yes, was it not supplied with better installation instructions than what your link shows?

Thanks!

Like tazdevl said, it's lock, lock, lock hold three seconds release. Sometimes I hit lock an extra time before holding. The blinkers will blink a few times to indicate it's starting about a second or two after you release the lock button.

Johnny, Stormforge had it installed in his 450h along with the glass breakage sensor. Might want to shoot him a PM to find out. Here is the link for the part from Sewell.

Cost isn't bad. Only downside is the car will shut off when the door is opened. If you're fine with that, I say get it. It's great to have.

My RX has the remote start from Lexus and on the sticker at $375.Great price but I hate the shutoff when unlocking.Silly safety feature.

Joeb, it's illegal in some towns here to warm up your car in the driveway. And with the high cost of insurance in this sorry state, IMO the shut-off feature is worth it if it helps keep premiums down.

Glad to help. It doesn't look too hard but I took the easy route like Joeb and added it to my special order, $375.

Anita, other systems shut the vehicle down when you step on the brake and you can't shift into gear without stepping on the brake..That should be good enough,IMO.

True, but I like the immediate shut-off when the door handle is touched. Anybody thinking about taking the car will probably be like WTF and move on. It sends the right message
