Default Remote start?

Has anyone had remote start installed on their GS? Thoughts? Sometimes I wonder if doing one of these aftermarket remote start systems would mess up the electronics of the vehicle? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The car needs the key chip near the ignition to start up, so it can get pretty expensive to do a remote start.

Lux Link use to make a remote start module for our cars. I have one installed on my gs430. Works with the oem remote. Push the lock button 3 times and the car turns on. Might post mine up for sale soon. Keep an eye out in the classifieds

It works as far as your oem remote works. I think there was a thread a while back on how to boost your oem range. Search and you'll probably find it.
I use to park across the street from my old house and it worked fine at that distance.

Hmm, this sounds like too much trouble for what it is worth. Thanks everyone for their input, however I think I will pass. Will just have find one someday with a factory option.

I have the Clifford 590.2x and it has been in my car for just over 2 years now without any problems. The range on this system is great. I am using a Directed 555XW in conjunction with the alarm to send the signal to the ignition. It learns when you start the car with the key and reproduces the signal without having a second key in the car near the ignition (hopefully I explained that right). Total I spent was about $400.

It gets a little more expensive because of the immobilizer. But these are common place (especially for Toyota). Plenty of decent stereo shops have everything you need, and can prob do it for under $300. Not really as bad as you would think...

You can get a viper 5704 with an immobilizer bypass kit for about $2-220 but that's without labor. I've installed remote start 5901 on a few GS/is300s

So what exactly does it take to install for example that Viper 5704 or 5901?
What do I have to take into account when installing it?

Is it just plug-n-play or does it need a car electric professional to install it?

You gonna need these Directed 556UW Universal Remote Start Interface Module to bypass the ignition chip . you gonna wired to the door lock either the driver or passenger door. these wires can be found in the kick panel so no need to go into the door . gray pnk/blk pnk/grn.
For the ignition 12 volts white / blue
second 12 volts white/red ,
starter black
ignition- white /black
second ignition blk/yellow
