WOW....this thread is making me really think about cancelling the order on my RX 450h. If they can't even attach a bumper correctly, what else is wrong with this thing?
FYI, the front bumper problem is currently only for the regular RX350 (built in either japan or cambridge). the RX450h does not have this problem. so IF you are buying a RX450h, you should be OK.
the other issues you mentioned are just minor annoyances, and should not be a deal breaker. you could get an aftermarket dvd/navi override kit from prestigious society (solves the problem of not being able to input while on the fly), change bulbs in the glovebox to brighter ones, etc, etc.
Got to agree with Cruiter...generally not issues that are serious (except for the rear bumper issue, but that's only one ... Front bumper issue mainly cosmetic). We still love our 350. Much improved over our old 05rx.
[QUOTE=The G Man;4764930]My wife and I have had Toyotas or/and Lexus in our driveway for the last 15 years. Next week will be the 1st time that there will be no Toyota or Lexus park there.
If I were one of the "power's that be" at Toyota the quote above would get my attention more than any other in this thread. This has to be the most profound statement of all.

DNC and others
I just looked back a ways and since the 2010 model was introduced, I've found less owners posting their own bumper cover problems then I have fingers on one hand. DNC, I see you're a past RX Lexus owner but not showing as a 2010 RX owner. The point I'm trying to make I think is there are more bumper cover complaints from folks that don't own the current RX than do own one and are having problems. I called my dealer the other day and so far they haven't had any complaints (they've been selling them since Feb too) so I don't think it's a big enough issue to make like the sky is falling on Lexus.
Dealers are owned and run by humans and it's true there can be a odd ball (Dealer) that doesn't get it or doesn't care about the customer. His reputation will take care of that problem given time. It's definitely not the normal. I feel pretty good that Lexus cares when the facts are ironed out.
Most of us are very happy owners w/o major problems but I agree if that happened to most of us, it would be major. It hasn't and isn't. Is there any of us given the facts that doesn't agree this discussion has gone a tad over the top???
Let's give the folks with problems a chance to contact their dealers and get a resolution. And if they don't get one, then let's discuss whether it's the dealer or Lexus but not tear Lexus down at this point. When Consumer Reports starts tearing them down then I'll be right there too.
Just my opinion, but I realize we all have one. I'm breaking out my band aids for the onslaught now

On the contrary, 2010 RX350 was the first Lexus both me and my wife liked because it was not boring and a fresh design, after turning our heads to Acura over the past 8 years. You win some, you loose some...

No, not a 2010 owner. I have one on order, RX350 AWD. Your dealership has reported different results than the 3 I have spoken with. All three I spoke with were complaining about the bumper issues. I think it is crazy bumpers would be falling off of a new car, much less one costing this kind of money and from a company that claims they have spent so much time and money on it's development.
I'm sorry, I should not be posting this kind of stuff. I'm over the top, I should be thinking happy Lexus thoughts. For god sake, this is a discussion board. We are going to talk about the good and the bad. This isn't about warm fuzzies and cheerleading.
Now for the good: I think "most" Lexus dealership will do whatever it takes to clean this mess up. That is the reason I am a Lexus customer.

I think you make a very good point; different people expect different things from their cars. In the 1980's my family left Cadillac due to higher expectations, while some of their friends remained customers. I hope we don't have to reach that crossroads with Lexus.
This RX350 was the 2nd Lexus our family bought, and will not be the last. Checked to see if our Canadian RX had the bumper problem, it was held on tight.
My local dealership told me Lexus has already been to their location and addressed the bumper issue. I am optimistic this will be corrected at the factory after hearing the experience my dealership has reported.
I just bought a 450h yesterday and found no issues after careful inspection. However, a 350 on the showroom did have some separation. This was in Massachusetts.
G Man.....if you don't mind me asking, what did you go with any why?
We are picking up our Audi Q5 tomorrow, we test drove the Q5, RX350, MB GLK and the BMW X3. The Q5 had the best combination of luxury and performance out of the four.
