New Headlights Have No Distance
Lexus just replaced the headlights on my 2007 RX due to excessive condensation. The new HID lights, on low-beam, stop 74' in front of the car with a distinct black line across the road. Lexus says this is "normal" but it can't be. My daughters 2007 RX does not do that and neither did the RX Loaner the dealer gave my. Anyone have a solution to this ultra-low visibility problem?

They aimed the headlights too low. You can either take it to a dealer and have them aim the headlights higher or there are instructions in the owners manual. You will need a long philips head screw driver and if you have AFS there are two bolts to adjust on each headlight instead of one.

That was my thought but the Lexus dealer says they are auto leveling and there is no adjustment. They are AFS and the new lights are HID. I have a email into Lexus USA Customer Service but have not heard back from them.

Auto Leveling does not mean there is no adjustment. They have to be adjusted initially and then the auto leveling motor keeps the headlight aimed at that initial height based on how the car is loaded. I would just do it yourself if you want good distance on the headlights. But if not you can take the owners manual to the dealer and show them that they do indeed require leveling.

Shame on the dealer for not doing a complete repair...another example of no pride in workmanship....I would call the dealer and at least let them know.

Thanks Thomas, I did call the dealer and the tech at Germain Lexus in Naples Fl still claims the headlights can not be adjusted because they are AFS and they auto-level themselves. He apparently does not know what he is talking about.

What a dumb***. I wouldn't be able to let it go. I would drive my car in there and show them the manual and the adjustment bolts....But I am not the type to just let things go. LOL.

I suspect they gain incentives from Lexus based on customer satisfaction.

I have been working with Lexus Corporate Costumer Service but they keep calling with excuses. Their last call was that my Case Manager was called out if town. They have had this issue on their desk for 10 days and no answer. With the help from members on this forum I have adjusted them up myself.
