Default Automatic Door Lock option

I want to know if there's an option to have the door lock itself after removing the key and closing all the doors. My Toyota does this, 30 seconds after the car door is closed, it locks and arms Automatically. I would like the option not to press LOCK (remote) to lock the RX330 once I exit the RX. Currently, I have to press twice (1) to lock all doors (2) to turn off all the lights.

Is there anyways to have Automatic Door Lock function added to RX330? Thanks!!

Try searching the 330 forum under "CBEST settings". I remember someone posting a long while back, an entire list of settings the dealer can change for you. Good luck! Or give your dealer a call.

That is not a customize function because they dont want you to accidentally lock your keys inside the car. On the other hand, if you unlock the door from the outside and do not open the doors, then it will lock itself after 30 seconds. Are you sure thats not what your Toyota has?

My Toyota has an option: Once u turn off the engine/remove the key and exit the car/close all doors, it'll lock itself (I believe in 30 seconds). So if you forget to lock manually with the remote, it'll do it for u..

What year and model is your Toyota and does it have a after market alarm? I am just wondering what would happen if you take out the keys and leave it in the car, say inside a handbag or something, get out of the car and forgot about the handbag and close the door.

You are right, if that happens, then I am screwed.

btw, you don't have to hit lock twice if you don't want. you can just hit lock once and the lights will turn off automatically after about 30 seconds. it's a safety thing so you can see where you are going after you've walked away from your car (or to keep an area lit so it's not pitch black in a parking lot or alley)

i agree w/ the posters above -- many cars don't do the auto lock thing anymore unless they have aftermarket alarms. i don't think i've seen one like that since the late 90's. the reason being keys getting locked in cars, esp at things like car washes or valets where they might place the keys on the dash, and then later they get locked out...

I think thats a customizable function. Lexus can program it so the headlights shuts off immediately after the 1st click.

Nope--they can change it so they cut off as soon as you open the door!! other wise they stay on till after the alloted time or you hit the lock button twice to cut them off

my moms car (mercury sable) had this function WE ALWAYS LOCKED KEYS INSIDE CAR, HATED IT!!!

we locked our keys in there so much that she kept a wire coat hanger tucked in the wheel well, my mom didnt care about that car, tranny was going out an everything.

man I hate those auto lock options, sucks to because most of the time the car was on, and running, I have to admit tho, because of this I am pretty nifty at unlocking 96' ford taurus' and mercury sables lol

but to each his own, I dont think lexus' have this option

I have mine set, via the C-best settings, to lock and unlock all the doors on one click, rather than two. I don't think that there is a setting to have the car lock itself, and if there is, I sure would not want it activated. That is sure to cause trouble.
