I told her that is like asking for the meaning of life. She went on to tell me that this is only her second fill-up in her first ever Lexus. At any rate, I coached her on the "use 87 until you need higher" technique, which is to us 87 octane unless her car experiences knocking or sluggishness, then move up to the next grade. Drive, repeat as necessary.I also mentioned that there is this community online called "Club Lexus dot com" where this age-old question (and many others) are discussed. She said she may check it out.
After our refueling encounter was over, we both bid adieu to each other and drove off in our separate ways.

Me? I run V-Power, all the time...the car seems happiest with it, and does indeed get better mileage out of it (don't ask me how). The rebate on the Shell Mastercard pays for the difference.
