I have an RX400h, and it is bogging out on acceleration with over half throttle. Its fine at lower throttle, and will get up to 50 mph or so. Im on a gravel rd, so I dont want to go any faster. The KWH guage keeps climbing with added throttle, but the ICE bogs out.
Seems like its not getting fuel. I just replaced the fuel pump, and no change. The evap canister got destroyed by gravel recently, and I swapped the whole thing out with an ebay one. I noticed that when it started running like crap, but looks like the evap had been toast for a while.
Thoughts?
I did only replace the pump itself, and not the white plastic housing. Is there a filter inside the housing? Or just a pre filter socket?
Filter sock and filter housing are the only fuel filters. How many miles? I suggest you put the original pump back in unless you bought an OEM pump as the replacement (doubtful). I hope you have a competent scan tool looking at live fuel trims would be very helpful.

I have Techstream setup, just not super familiar with how to use it., and for checking life fuel trims. I didn't replace the white pump housing, just the pump itself. Im looking now and it looks lite the housing is a filter as well. I did that as i was thinking, with the EVAP Canister being open and exposed under the car, it could have been sucking dirt into the tank and clogging stuff up.
Ill check again tonight, but mostly evap related. But not sure if those are supposed to clear before it gets positive results. It also had a Hybryd system error. I will get fresh codes this evening.
Sure enough 2 giant cracks in that hose. Can I just pull the resonator and cap it? Would it be available at a regular parts store? Napa /Oriellys / Autozone? Not seeing much other than ebay/ Toyota/Lexus
Thanks!! Ordered the part, installed, checked all of the other hoses in the area, as well as made sure all of the clamps were tight. Pulled the MAF and cleaned with MAF cleaner. Still has the same issue and codes. Cleared codes, drove for about 5 miles, up to 65MPH, and same codes, and issue.
Often times MAF codes takea few miles or "cycles" to clear, have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few miutes? This will clear the ECM (it will require a window, sunroof, and drivers seat reset and your car will need to "relearn" your driving that takes maybe 20-50 miles usually
OK, reset codes, took for a 25 mile drive. Hooked up the scan tool while driving. I got a P3190 "Poor Engine Power", and a P3193 "Fuel Run Out" code. I tried putting throttle to max and back a few times to see if the TPI might need to be reset, but that resulted in the gas engine totally shutting down until i stopped and turned the car completely off and turned it back on. Once i got on pavement, the issue was much more pronounced and violent. Car shook really bad. It was smooth at low throttle/rpm, but once it got higher, it started missing/shaking. I hooked up the scan tool when driving, and basically the car wouldn't get over 3200 RPM. It ran smooth up to that, but any higher, and it would bog/cut out/ not go any higher, and eventually cut out until a reboot. Then it would run ok as long as long as i didn't give it too much throttle. Seemed about 30% was the cutoff. The faster I got, the less throttle input i could give it before it started cutting out. Which all kinda makes sense given the CVT/Hybrid setup. It still seems like its not getting enough fuel.
Again, i changed the fuel sock, and the pump. But i did not change the plastic housing around the pump.
It did have the same behavior before the pump replacement. I guess i was wondering, is the sock on the bottom oif the pump the only filter, or is the housing a filter as well. With the earlier evap/canister damage, i think lots of contaminants could have entered the tank due to the 8+ miles a day of dusty gravel.
