Remote keys no longer work
1999 RX300. The remote lock and unlock sometimes worked, sometimes not, now never works. I replaced the battery in both keys. The red LED on the key blinks on and off when I press and hold any button but the car doesn't react.
The lock/unlock functions on the car (using manual key turn or the lock/unlock buttons in the car) all work normally.
Any ideas? Bad receiver? Some kind of reprogramming diagnostic?

Then the problem is either in the transmitter [try another key] or the receiver module or the programming.
You can try by swapping components or the dealer has the equipment to diagnose ... down to counting pulses.

Since both keys (with new batteries) fail, that means the receiver or the programming. Any idea how to redo the programming? Or is that just for the dealer?

I had similar problems at different times. Usually, it was a matter of reprogramming the key. Once, the dealer had to fix something that had come loose (I have no idea what) behind the left front kick panel.
