Default Next Generation 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe - Radical Departure

Wow, did not see this coming from a looks perspective.

Hyundai’s nearly all-in on its electrification efforts, but it hasn’t forgotten the bread-and-butter SUVs that have brought it this far. That’s why we’re seeing an all-new Santa Fe for 2024, the model’s first complete makeover since 2018, bringing a striking change in the Santa Fe’s appearance.

The first and most impactful change with the update is the Santa Fe’s styling, which has been transformed into a boxy, beefy-looking family hauler. Hyundai said it used the Santa Fe’s shape to convey a sense of grandeur, giving it a high hood, sharp fenders, and unique H-shaped headlights that follow other H-ish shapes in the front fascia. The SUV gets 21-inch wheels and now looks the part of a serious off-roader. The automaker also stretched the Santa Fe’s wheelbase, and while we don’t have the new measurements, the change should improve ride quality and interior space for the popular SUV.

Hyundai said it designed the new Santa Fe with lifestyle use top of mind. The interior features fold-flat second- and third-row seats and follows the same H-heavy styling that the SUV’s exterior wears. Hyundai equipped a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster in a curved panoramic display and said that the Santa Fe’s cabin offers contrasting upholstery colors and high-end materials throughout. Sustainable materials headline the interior design, with portions of the headliner and seatbacks made from recycled plastics. Even so, the SUV gets more traditional luxury accents like wood trim and available embroidered Nappa leather.

We don’t have specs or details on the new Santa Fe’s specs and configuration, but the images Hyundai shared appear to show a 2.5T badge and HTRAC script on the rear of the SUV. The automaker plans to share more detail during a full launch of the Santa Fe next month on YouTube. Hyundai also recently showed off the Ioniq 5 N, so it’s shaping up to be a busy year for the Korean automaker.

That rear end is...a choice. Reminds me of a blocky Previa

I actually kinda like it. Looks like discount brand GX 550. Only the taillight placement looks awkward to me. Very awkward…. It’s giving me Japanese kei van vibes… interior looks great!

This has been rumored for a while. I'll have to see it in person; there's aspects I definitely like in these photos; and some that seem questionable.

I have a '19, and I initially didn't like the styling of the current generation, but it has really grown on me.

Beautiful paint job.

Seems to be just one more sign (along with several more new vehicles) that Copper may be a hot new in-color....along with the recent cement/concrete hues. In fact, not long ago, I did a thread on that here in Car Chat.

This new Santa Fe also seems to be adopting another new fad from some new vehicles.....putting a large single video-screen across the entire left and center parts of the dash.

I suspect that Bitkahuna might (?) be checking one out as soon as it becomes available at Hyundai shops.

Yes I like that copper color as well. I like the direction they went with this generation. The current and previous gen Santa Fe’s never appealed to me, they were too round and soft looking.

Just another oversized gas guzzler. These should be phased out.

'looks the part'... car styling is now like pics on instagram... largely fake and only to impress.

An over-sized mid-sized 5 passenger "gas guzzler" with a 2.5L in line 4. Ok....

The current Santa Fe with the same 2.5T/AWD combo that this one has gets 21/28, 24 combined. The hybrid variant that my parents have gets 33/30, 32 combined. The plugin hybrid is 33 combined, 76 MPGe. Those are not exactly gas guzzler numbers.

The wheelbase on this is longer than the current model to improve ride, but they haven't remotely turned it into a Suburban competitor. So mpg should be somewhere in the current ballpark.

It looks like a rejected prior draft of the EV9 that was pasted over a FWD platform. It's the same problem I have with the new Grandeur. But the interior is lovely.
