My remote lock/unlock on the cars key works but only from one meter away
I have changed the battery.
Does anyone know where can I find the cental device that catches that signal from the key (or whatever) so I can maybe try to connect it to the car body or put some antena to increase the range (so I can unlock/lock the car from normal/longer distance).
This will sound stupid but have you tried to hold the key against your head when you hit the lock/unlock button? Your head will act as antenna and increase the range of the key. Have tried it and it actually works. You will look kind of stupid if you do this on a parking lot in front of a store though
Sorry but this is the best advice I can give you. Hopefully someone else has a better advice
Hm, I'll try to get that as a joke (doe it's a bit stupid one)...
Point is that the lock/unlock works better (from a bit longer distance) when I'm approaching the car from rear left side, wich means that the receiver unit is somewhere there...
Well if anyone knows where is it, or what is it connecting to?
P.S. My wifes Audi can be unlocked from 10 meters without using the key as a TV remote controle - pointing at it to unlock
that's about the range for it to operate, The antenna is on the rear glass. Make sure the battery is new for best operation. The transmitter is built in the key fob.
with my friend's 95, the reciever is on the dashboard on the right side, a little orb thats on the right of the vent... my car (93) has that orb too but ive never tested it out myself because i have an aftermarket alarm.
The keys for both of our Lexus vehicles, a 93 LS and a 94 ES, only operate the door locks at very short distances. I would guess 8-10 feet at most. We have had the ES for 15 years and the LS for 11 years. They have always operated this way, and the key batteries have been changed numerous times.
The key fob on our 2004 Sequoia will lock and unlock the doors from much greater distances - as much as 40-50 feet.
I finally gave up on this and purchased a Viper remote start system for $249 (USD) installed. Now I can lock/unlock the doors from over a 1/4 mile away and have the added benefit of a cool or warm car in the summer/winter. The built-in Lexus alarm system still works as before the install.
