Cabin Air Filter is $$$
Just came back from the Lexus Dealership for a donuts gasket service and I was stunned that a cabin air filter + service cost $74.50!! You can buy them for $10-$25 and super easy to install.
Btw does anyone know what know if the OEM cabin filters are Denso, I'm considering getting a either a Bosch or OEM? also what are
the nut+cap are call? they are the one you use to insert into the grille

This is why the dealership is usually nicknamed "The STEALership"
Cabin Air Filter and Engine Air Filter(s) are one of those things you can DIY (do it yourself) without paying those pointless labor charges which a 10 year old can do themselves.

I got one at the Toyota dealership for $16.00. But you can get them on ebay for around 5 bucks!. Install is a breeze. The dealers really take you to the cleaners on some items such as this.

Oh Yea, I can! Why practice robbery with a gun and take a chance of going to jail. Do it with a cash register (actually a computer with a cash drawer) that with the simple pushing of a couple buttons you can MARK UP the RETAIL parts price by whatever % you want to. All dishonest (or just plain greedy) business people love it!, and it's LEGAL!. No worry about going to jail. Retailers can charge whatever price they want, the "suggested retail" is just that, suggested. It's often greed, pure and simple, but that's why I let my wallet vote for who I'd like to stay in business. The honest ones (who DON'T mark up retail) and give great service will get my business any day because that's who I want to stay in business. The rip-off on labor is also despicable.
Quite a few years back, I had one of those Quicky Oil Change places putting on some brake pads for me and got the usual 20 point inspection where they try to find other stuff that can do to your car. They listed that I needed a cabin filter and they'd do it for the price of $90! I laughed at the guy and told him it was outrageous and never went back! Finding a local mechanic that can do good work and is honest can be like finding a gold nugget in a river. I know they have to make money to stay in business, but I'm personally not going to be some mechanic's mother load!
Smart. I do exactly the same thing, after all the OEM cabin filter is made out of plastic not paper material. So, definitely washable and reusable. I even spray mine with air freshener for that nice clean smell.
