Default Intermittent problem with passenger window

I have a 2001 RX300 with about 95k on the clock. Recently I have begun to have a problem with the passenger side front window. From either the drivers side switch or the passenger switch the window will go all the way up or all the way down without stopping but if you press the window switch down then stop it part way, it will not go back up. Then if you press it down again it might go down or even up a little but it doesnt respond correctly unless you get it to start going down and hold it so it goes all the way down, only then it will go back up again. I was thinking it was a bad switch as the motor sounds fine and the speed is good but I'm confused because it will act the same way when operated from either the master or passenger switch. Could a problem with the master switch make the passenger switch work bad or do I have some other problem? Any advice would be greatly appreciated before I dump a lot of money on a new master switch only to find out that's not the problem. Thanks in advance gang.

Well Lexus114, looks like there is another window gremlin like ours!

Deviousgs430, I can't tell you this will fix your problem, but I had the same issue. When I changed out the battery the first part of this year.....This problem went away.

The reason for the battery change was because I noticed the start quality degrading and if I left the radio on for 5 min the battery would be dead. So, instead of waiting for the death on its terms, I changed it out.

So, if you have an aging battery...This may be the culprit.

Pinch protection reset needs to be reset.

Please consult the owners manual. You need to hold the button up for full travel and some. I dont want to give you wrong information, so check the manual.

I hope that works. I tried that along with unhooking the battery for about a hour and doing that procedure over again. No dice.

Lexus114, you try the procedure salimshah mentioned?

No,it just started working fine again....all by itself although the power locks still sound off for no apparent reason.
