Default window switch

Can't believe it but my passenger's side window switch just snapped off! How do you replace it? Can I just pry out the switch or do I need to pry out the wood panel first? Where do I pry at it?

Thanks

Search this forum on "window switch". It's all there.

Default window switch

thanks for the help. Of course the dealer wants 300 bucks for the replacement. Any good sources for lower cost new or reliable used parts?

Are you trying to remove that panel where the switch is at? I was going to do this on Saturday as part of a DIY on the door panel. However, one other member in this forum asked me for help on this.

You have to attack it from the front and the hook looks like this from the other side.

The trick is to take a small flathead screwdriver and attack the front at angle like this so you can push the hook backward toward the direction of the back of the car.

Looks like it's $275 at newlexusparts.com (not much better). Also read through the posts carefully aftyer doing your search. One poster mentioned a cheap price on ebay and another got the driver side switch from Irontoad.

lexmex, are you sure you need to remove the whole panel? I haven't had to do this myself yet but it looks like others have simply pulled/pryed the switch from the panel without removing it.

Good point. I can examine this on Saturday when take I photos of removing the door panels, and see if indeed this can be done. I wouldn't want anyone else to be the guinea pig and break something.
