Default Changing the manual shift logic to GT style

I need to change the shift logic to GT style like im used to in BMW/Mini. I use the paddles mostly, but the stick shift in manual feels incredibly backwards...
I found this thread that details the procedure (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ml#post2804527)
...but before I start ripping the center console apart, has anyone done it on their RC, and is the wiring similar since that guide is only for a 2nd Gen IS?

I'm not sure how the actual shifter works, but if it is similar to the Paddle mechanism, then it should be relatively easy to change, minus the plus or minus sign. The paddles work in such a way that when the paddle is "clicked" there is a lever that moves a copper contact on and off of 2 traces. I'm guessing that the shifter is the same way, maybe you can change which connector is plugged into which side?

yeah, it should be just a matter of swapping the wires (like in the IS350 post), but was seeing if anyone has successfully done it on the RC, before I go through the hassle of disassembling the center console. TOM'S actually made a conversion harness to change the ISF to GT shifting, but it doesn't seem to fit our RC.

Interesting... I would take a gamble and say it will work. Says it works for IS and GS as well. drivetrain is shared.

If there's any wiring diagrams available for the RC or IS center console, I would assume we should be able to find the pinout for the equivalent connector we need to modify for the current gen.

For the 3IS and RC there is a 5-pin connector at the shifter, pin 1 (pink) and 3 (violet) need to be switched. Use caution as there is another wire (pin 4) that is also pink.

Very cool, when I have some time this weekend I may open up my console and try this.

Lol, and thought I wouldn't have to play with this again after I finished my RC console swap.

I finally got around to doing this, and happy to report back that it works perfectly thanks to your excellent tip Jeff. I was going off the 2IS guide, and obviously the RC is a bit different in terms of the connector type and location, so I took pics to help anyone wanting to do this:

Once you take off the panels and center console top, there is a white 5 pin connector on the drivers side of the shifter. squeeze the release and pop it out

swap p1 Pink and p3 Violet (and like the 2IS guide says, be careful to not break the two pins when removing them from the connector). You may have to use a sewing needle or push pin to disengage the pin tabs on the top of the connector

pop the modified connector back into the shifter, connect the center console, and go for a test drive. GT logic! Thanks again Jeff
