So just found out that the manual shifter bezel is discontinued, was wondering if any manual owners could trace out the cutout of their bezel and post a 1:1 image online for us.
Im thinking of taking a dremel to my gated shifter bezel and making it large and round like the manual one.
I though I was going to have to do they same thing but I finally found a manual bezel the other day for sale. Just keep searching one will pop up at some point. But when mine arrives sat I can take measurements for you
Another thing to note about the manual (and automatic) bezels is that the surface is not completely flat or uniform. It's a specific subtle asymmetrical shape that blends into the console bezel. The shift boot area is a bit closer to symmetrical. I think.
The leather boot comes attached to the factory M/T bezel with little staples but they can be removed and reset. I believe 97-SC300 posted how to do this in his V160 swap thread. However do note that his thread concerned modifying a factory SC M/T shift bezel with custom notching slightly for the V160's lever movement. The procedure he outlined could be very useful here. He made a completely custom modification look 100% factory by the time he was done.
Now that being said I do feel you should keep looking for one, OP. If they have been discontinued it is a very recent thing and they will be in circulation used.
Aside, this is a really good case in point for whatever technology is available now to 3D scan plastic parts for a 3D printer. In saying that I have no idea what scanning of anything actually costs right now but it is early days for these things. Still, I think this will be the way to do it eventually (3D printed replica, sans shift boot).
This isn't a true replacement for the discontinued manual shifter bezel w/boot however I've always liked the DIY approach at the end of this thread using an auto gated shift bezel as a base:
Look up "Lexus SC300/400 Mods" on Facebook, you have to request to join though. A pretty laid back community, for sale/trade section, daily pics everything SC 2jz/1jz/1uz related. The guy making the carbon fiber bezel also has CF pieces for the B pillar, center console, rear window, and sunroof too, etc. Not trying to advertise here, just spreading more info out to you guys cos not much people on here use the Facebook group.
Here is a picture of a manual shift bezel for sale that someone made from an auto that I found on craigslist in the Chicago area. Maybe a little more refinement needed but I think it's still a pretty good effort, applause to that guy
