Unhappy help! stripped bolt!

ok so I just got the K&N, thx Lextasy! anyway i seem to have mishapen the bolt in step 28 (front passenger side valve bolt). I can't remove it and i dont know what to do, I want to avoid drilling it though because I still want to use it obviously. any suggestions would be great

heres the link: http://www.kandn.com/instructions/69-8701.pdf

I think you will have to drill. There are kits out there where you drill in the center of the bolt and remove it with their kits. Check your local car-parts store.

Im not so sure I could drill it though the bolt is located in a very tight spot, I won't be able to drill it at the correct angle

humm well either way you should goto your local car-parts place and have them take a look at it to see if they can give you any advice.

Go to sears and get a set of bolt removers, they come in a red box and they are a 3/8 drive. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...d=bolt+remover

They work really good.

I remember working on my civic and I snapped the head off one of the exhaust manifold bolts. Left it like that for a long time till it really annoyed me, then I went to Sears and picked up a bolt extractor kit. Works like a charm.

If your bolt has a rounded head or it was snapped off the kit is perfect.

the same bolt LOL. but i check on it every time i get out of my car. it was easy for me to tighten it, the socket wrench locked on the bolt whenever i turned it right, it was just having a problem pulling it left O.o. either way it hasnt given me any problems ::crosses fingers:: but if it does ill just go to lowes and get another bolt

honestly dude i would go get a new bolt from lexus and re torque that head bolt to factory setting. it is a head bolt, that is one area you do not want to over tighten nor have it loose.

i didn't round mine off, i ended up dropping my bolt when i was putting it in, took me a half hour to find it. it disappeared and i had my hand all aroud the engine and panels trying to feel for it. i started hitting the under body panels on the other side of the car and it popped out.

any chance you know the factory torque setting? and I think the bolt should be fine, only a small part of the head is misshapen, the rest is fine
