I set the opening height of the lift gate so that it does not hit the garage door. But I have some questions/concerns.
When the garage door is closed, do you have something on the backside of the garage door in case someone accidentally presses the key fob or presses the button on the dash?
When the garage door is open, it makes me nervous that someone will leave the lift gate open(unloading groceries) and close the garage door. Any advise?
You can set the Lexus app to alert you if you or someone else has left the liftgate open.
I'm relatively certain you cannot open the liftgate unless your vehicle is in Park and the doors are unlocked.

Are you saying your lift back hits the garage door when it's fully open? You can adjust the height of the lift back so it doesn't go that high. I have no issues opening up my 2018 even with the garage closed. I assume it's the same for 2022.
He is a saying that if the garage door is open and someone forget to close the lift gate on vehicle and then someone in the house closes the garage door and hits the lift gate. How to avoid this.
It sounds like the app is your best bet, you must keep your phone on you to get the alert your lift gate is still up.
Maybe you can set the car to automatically lock when walking away thus closing the lift gate?
I know this is too simple, but we simply hang a whiffle ball (for each parking spot in the garage) at the appropriate spot, so that when we pull into the garage, windshield contact with the whiffle ball means your in far enough, so that NONE of these "contact" issues (trunk or hatch) is a problem.
I'm sure someone will come up with an APP or an option package to manage this issue, but until they do..........
Interesting... I can open and close my garage door and the lift gate won't be touched - so it's never been an issue for me. It's really just a habit that needs to be dealt with and getting alerts on the phone is really just a temp solution. If the owner with the app is not home and someone does it.. it's too late. you can set the sensors of the garage door at the level of the liftgate so that it won't open or close if it sense something blocking it... but that removes the other issue... but that could be a solution if it's a concern.
I did see a video out there where someone added another set of sensors higher.
I realize this probably seems like a stupid concern but I worked with a guy who’s wife left there gate up on an Explorer and he didn’t realize and pressed to close the garage door. He said the rear glass exploded when the garage door caught it.
My garage is standard depth but we have shelves and what not in front so the lift gate is close to the garage door.
I found and ordered these bumper pads to attach to the inside of garage door in case someone opens the lift gate when it’s closed.
Several interesting videos out there about the increased speed of the 2022 power lift gate compared to the 2021 and how to use the lock button when it’s open and it will automatically lock all doors without pressing the outside lock button on the lift gate.
Is there a way to open the lift gate without all the doors unlocking? I couldn’t find anything on this. For example going shopping and not wanting to give access to the side doors while you are busy in the back.
Thanks!
I apologize I don't have the vehicle myself to try, but for what it's worth, the manual (screenshot below) does NOT seem to suggest it's an option you can fix under settings.
However, maybe there's a quirk under "Press 1" below, that would make it work the way you want. Possibly try re-locking the vehicle with your key upon approaching first, and then press the opening button on the hatch within 3 seconds, maybe it will only unlock the hatch and not everything else?
Also, maybe the kick-sensor opening of the hatch will not unlock all doors?
You could also try locking the vehicle after the hatch is open(ing), though it might not let you lock it with a door open. If this does work, just make sure not to close the hatch afterward with your key/phone inside!
I tried the method above that BC310 listed without luck.
While the “Lock” button inside the tailgate is nice (apparently on older models you use to press the close button twice) it will beep several times and close locking all doors. Where the lock button outside the lift gate will lock all doors after the lift gate is closed.
For many years people with RX and other Toyota makes have asked the same question. (Looks like it’s not just Lexus/Toyota)
Not a huge deal just interesting that say you are at the store loading groceries someone can gain access to car. Guess they can always come around the back where you busy.
