i saw the post on people slamming doors and was wondering does anyone have my problem. this pisses me and my wife off. when i am trying to get out of my car i open the door but it seems to swing back and try and close as i am getting out. it will only stay open when i push it all the way or if i open it about a 1/3 the way open. is the car designed for the door to click at certain positions? i cant stand that it will swing back close if i dont push my door all the way out. sometimes i cant open the door all the way because of someone parking too close to me. then it's hard getting out holding the door and food and then dragging me lol.
yea the door is made to close on its own sort of. I think its a great, i love that it does this; and in the case of the someone parking too close to me, I like that the door will stay press against me as i slide out, as opposed to it swinging open and hitting the other person's door.
I normally try to pop the door open and swoop out in a single motion. Looks kind of stupid but when you are trying to juggle a coffee cup and a briefcase, it's nice for the door to close itself.
Now reading this post takes care Of my anger towards the situation. I always thought something was wrong with my door but, now that members here have pointed out it's made this way. With very good logic behind it I'm happy With it not staying open.
I believe there is another thread about this already. The door will only stay open if it's opened all the way or 1/3 of the way. Gets annoying in tight places like my garage where you're trying to get out without opening the door too much and the door is putting pressure against you trying to close.
yah i found out about this the hard way. door closed on my thumb as i was stepping out, that was not the best day for me. the doors are really heavy and close automatically if you dont bring it past a certain point.
Just put springs on the door, so it will go "KABAM!!" once you let go :P
Yes it is a safety feature. For me, I just push it a bit 1/2 way and once a while notice it may get in the way if I need to quickly grab something when I partly step out and get back in. Nothing of concern.
