Default NX 450h plug-in real world range.

I am looking to replace my old NX 200t with the 2nd Generation NX 450h. Just curious to know the real world range of its plugin battery. The official website say it is about the 37 miles. But I read different stories. Some owner claimed it can be up to 50 mile per charge in fair weather and gentle handling. My daily trip to office is around 40 miles, I would like to know if it can be covered by one full charge. Thanks!

With only a month's experience but having driven other EVs and PHVs, we routinely see the projected miles at the mid to high 30s on our NX450H+. Depending on the roads and speed, I would think 40 would be reasonable, but you would really have to baby it to get to 50. You might be on electron fumes at the end but you would use little to no gas. Looks like you are in California so you should not take a big winter hit but you probably won't make 40 miles. Keeping the car in the garage and preconditioning before you get on the road will also help a bit.

It really depends where you live and if you drive the freeway a lot or not. If you drive city roads, you could stretch it to 50 miles. My max was 84.1km which is about 52 miles. But then cooler weather would bring the number down as well. High speed driving would reduce the numbers as well. Overall with the 2 years of owning the NX450h+, I would say the 37 miles is a good average if you live in a place where winter/cold weather occurs. But it you live in a more flat place or you have warm weather all year round, you could get 45 miles on average with very little effort.

Getting 75km (46 miles) pretty consistently. Even in the winter, car automatically goes in HV when it's very cold anyway.

Default Highway speeds much worse

I’ve been very happy with mileage so far. It’s suppose to get 60 km range, I can beat that on roads with speeds of 70-80 km/h, but get slightly less on the highway with speeds of 100-110 km/h. It should be worth mentioning that most of my highway km have 2-5 people in the car as well. And I’ve only had it in winter as well. I’m sure this summer will be much better.

But even with the longer trips(lots of 200 km trips), my fuel mileage has been 3.3 L/100km total. If you use your 60km range and the gas engine has to bring you the last 5km, you’re still getting incredible fuel mileage. We’re beating our Civic mileage by a long shot, it’s bigger and the power is amazing.

Lately I’ve been seeing 53 miles per charge, but that’s without running any climate controls. However the weather is as perfect as it can get; about 70°F to 80°F.
