One week in with my new NX and wondering if maybe adding glass coverage back onto my policy is worth it. $250 deductible and about an extra $100/year for glass...anyone know what a replacement windshield prices out for?

 

I had called Crystal glass a few months ago, and at that time a new windshield was around $1600. Call someone and get an up to date price.

 

I'd never be without full glass coverage. Not after 2 windshields, a side window and star fix. Especially while traveling.

 

Maybe call around to a few insurance companies and compare quotes. We have a $100 deductible at State Farm, not sure of the added premium though.

 

I'm surprised Crystal Glass already has aftermarket glass. They could be lying. I remember when I replaced the windshield on my '15 IS, none of the glass places had aftermarket glass, despite the '14 IS being out for more than a year already. I doubt they would have NX aftermarket glass yet. At the dealer, OEM glass for my IS installed was only ~$750 + tax.

From my research on this forum, windshields in the US are much more expensive than in Canada (despite ours being a more expensive part with heated glass).

 

Safelite - just now - does an online quote (in my zip code) for $1626.29. So the above quote sounds about right.

 

I was quoted $1500 by Safelite and my insurance. They said the price is attributed to the windshield wipers rain sensor and lane departure alert. If you have the F-Sport it does not include any of this so I would assume the price be lower.

 

Is it possible they use the same windshield for all of the NXs?

 

Had a rock chip my windshield and also took a bit of paint on my roof and the bill was 3500 cad. My insurance company covered it for 200.
