I am pretty sure there are only a couple of manufacturers of glass and I think the lexus glass is made by pilkington. It just wouldn't have lexus stamping on it.
I think safelite manufactures their own glass, but I would ask for pilkington.
If they won't give you Lexus stamped glass (and most insurance companies won't if the car is older than one year), then Pilkington or PPG is the way to go.
So I just got off the phone with the glass company and they advised me it would be a FYG glass that would be the replacement. What are your thoughts on this brand or has anybody had any issues with them?
I just got the windshield replaced on my 2011 Infinit QX56 with an OEM windshield. I also have StateFarm with a zero dollar deductible for windshield and comprehensive. I demanded OEM glass and they gave it to me.
I wish I would have goes the same for my GS a few years ago. I let them talk me into getting the Pilkington windshield. While it is good quality it is not the same as the OEM glass. Does not have the water repellent coating and it doesn't seem as quiet as the OEM glass.
Push for OEM...and if they don't budge then I would just pay the difference.
Recently had mine replaced with a PGW windshield and the fit is terrible. Too much curvature downwards on the top corners to the point that the glass doesn't follow the roof line, the driver's wiper doesn't make proper contact at the top corner, and the gap between the molding and the glass causes wind noise when driving 60 mph. I also requested the band of tint along the top, like the previous windshield, but on the PGW windshield it's barely noticeable. The glass shop readily agreed to replace it at no cost and are sourcing a different brand, possibly OEM.
