Default Re-Programming Keyless Entry

Hey all!!! I know it took me forever to even find (unsuccessfully) directions on how to reprogram my keyless entry on '97 LX 450...Below are the instructions and takes about 30 seconds! Skip the dealer on this one!!

1.) Move driver's seat forward and notice the security system unit underneath the seat.
2.) Turn ignition to ON position

NOTE: 3 and 4 must be done w/in 5 seconds of each other

3.) On the door side, you will see a little hole...take a pen and stick in....press and hold the green button until the security system LED lights up. Remove pen from hole...
4.) Press and release top button on transmitter...Make sure the LED goes out, siren chirps once and front lights flash...

If all works do double check by locking and unlocking using remote..... Giddyup!.....you're done.....

Default Keyless Entry

Wow, what a great find. Would you know if this works for most models. I have a 1995 LS400 with a replacement keyless entry that I would like to program. Has anyone else had success with this? Great help.....thanks.

I don't think I have the box in my 90 LS.

The LX450 is the ONLY lexus model that this procedure can be used on. Yes, it is simple, but the others are not. The 90 ls400 cannot be programmed at all. You have to order new keys and a matching chip, appox: $300.

Yes, I looked last night and did not find a security box under the front seat of my 95 LS400. Looks like the dealer will have to re-program the keyless entry for me. I did, however, visit a local lock smith for a replacement key after reading numerous posts about the cost of lost keys. I only have one key for the car and the $58 cost is probably good insurance against the high cost of re-key to the car itself. When I visited the dealership a few weeks back, they gave me the impression that the re-program to my "backup" keyless entry would be without cost. This, of course, was mentioned in the spirit of my appointment for the 90,000 service that is coming soon.

DevilDogIS300--

I was wondering if you knew if this method works for early '90s Toyotas, specifically my 1990 Celica.

I believe there is a security box under my driver's seat as well, which is why I am asking. I'll have to check it out, but I'm away from the car right now.

Also, does the remote that is to be programmed HAVE to be just like the original remote? I've heard people say that YES, you have to have the same FCC ID #, etc., but then there are others with my car that have newer remotes and they work fine.

Thanks

No, unfortunately, I am not aware of any possible connection with the older methods, nor if you need to program them exactly the same way....sorry.

Sorry, But I'm unfamiliar with the 90 celica.

Some remotes are different, I personally don't look at the fcc #s.
